Hind Hope offers comfort, relaxation
conversation, and hearty breakfasts

DENFIELD -
A welcom-
ing, country
atmosphere,
a complete
breakfast
of bacon
and eggs,
cereal, and
coffee, and
plenty of conversation is what one
can expect if visiting George and
Donna Hindmarsh's Hind Hope
Bed and Breakfast.
The Hindmarsh's began operat-
ing their two -room bed and break-
fast in 1982, just in time for the
plowing match held outside of Lu -
can that year.
They were inspired with the idea
after visiting several similar busi-
nesses run by relatives in Scotland
and England.
"We felt that since our cousins
were in it, and we saw how they
handled things, we thought we'd try
it when I retired. We've met a lot
of people this way," George com-
mented.
Indeed, they have met a lot of in-
teresting people. In past years the
Stratford Festival has attracted cus-
tomers from as far away as Michi-

Soybean seed treatment tips
CLINTON - Before heading off
to plant your soybeans this spring,
check to see if you are using the
proper seed treatment and soybean
inoculant, advises the Ministry of
Agriculture and Food.
Soybeans harvested for seed last
fall may have become infected
with seed mould, due to wet con-
ditions at harvest time. The mould
which can remain on the seed,
may reduce germination and vig-
our this spring. To guard against
seed mould and protect seedlings
from insects and diseases this
spring, use a seed treatment.
All soybean seed treatments
contain a fungicide which will
protect the seed against disease or-
ganisms in the soil, and from seed
mould. Some of the treatments
also contain an insecticide for con -
The wind in my sail
It's the Victoria Day Weekend, and many people across the country-
side are heading out to summer resorts. This is the time when cottages
are opened up, trailer parks are full and our waterways are filled with
boats.
In this age of high-tech, it's nice to see people enjoy the simplicity of
That the sail boat. Just your craft and the wind! breath of God can give
so much pleasure.
"Wind" is just one of the words we use to describe the Spirit of God.
Breath, Gift, Life, Soul ... are all part of what we mean when we say
'Spirit!
Walter Kasper, the Roman Catholic theologian, says that wherever
there is life and people seeking truth and goodness - therein lies the
Spirit of God.
We seem to have lost much of that sense of mystery and majesty of
our God. Being such sophisticated people, we demand a scientific
knowledge of logic and reason. Anything that can't be defined exactly
is highly suspect.
And so we close our eyes, and our minds, to the Spirit of God in our
world. Yet, it is through the spirit that changes in our world will be
made without violence. Change takes place first in the human heart.
Jesus tells us that we are, even now, being changed into the likeness
of God, through the freedom, love, yes, and even the saving powers of
the Spirit of God.
What that means is that we can experience heaven, even while here
on earth! A young boy noticed his Granny reading her Bible quite alot.
He remarked to his mother, "She must be cramming for her finals!"
Leslie Wcatherhead, noted theologian and psychologist„ tells us that
heaven is the goal that makes life worthwhile. Yet, too many of us are
like that little boy. We think of heaven as a final pay-off.
We have an understanding of heaven as being a great reward. After
our life on earth is over, we then reach this place called heaven. First of
all, we GO UP, and then everything becomes satisfying.
Using the imagery of 'up in heaven' was once a very good way of
talking about a God who was close and yet, at the same time, suggested
the mystery of God. What better symbol was there to use than the 'sky'.
For many years, the sky was the last great mystery. Everyone could
experience the sky by seeing it, feeling the elements of rain and snow
cone down from heaven. And yet no one had ever been up to this un-
charted frontier.
All of this has changed for our children today. We have all watched
our TVs and seen the surface of the moon. School books are filled with
pictures of Saturn, Jupiter and the universe beyond our eyes.
The message of faith is that God is with us, right here! God offers us
freedom, eternal life, and Heaven, every day of our lives.
How can we recapture that basic message of Cod's closeness to us
and yet retain that element of mystery and unknown?
There is no general consensus on a modern-day imagery for heaven -
although, clearly 'sky' is out! I would like to suggest that this concept
of God the Spirit be described as the God who lives in our Tomorrows.
Tomorrow is still a wondrous mystery to us. We have a name for our
Tomorrows. We count them, plan our agendas and prepare today, for
what it is we hope to live tomorrow. And yet, when the morning
comes, we have only Today!
And so it is that we experience our heaven, a likeness to God and a
changing from one degree of glory to another, even h we don't
fully or completely experience our Tomorrows.
We have a God who is not only 'for us' but is also 'van us'. God's
mises are real and present in our lives today. So enjoy your sail
boats or just sitting in the breeze. And think about the Sprit of God in
your life.

On Soybean seed not tie'riously
treated with a fungicide, use of an
insecticide seed treatment can in-
jure the seed. To protect the seed
from injury, a fungicide is required.
All soybean seed treatments con-
tain fungicide, but only the product
Agrox B-3 contains enough fungi-
cide to protect the seed. Thus, if
you wish to use seed treatment con-
taining an insecticide, and the soy-
bean seed is untreated, use Agrox
B-3.
Where the seed has been treated
previously, one of the other seed
treatments containing D&L fungi-
cide will provide the protection you
need from insects and diseases this
spring.
Your choice of soybean inocu-
lants is also an important decision.
At one time the only choice a grow-
er had of inoculants when soybeans
were grown on land for the first
time was the granular inoculants.
Now, however, with the new sterile
peat iaoculants on the market, moat
growers are choosing to use these
products instead of the granulars.
Only where the soil pH is less than
5.8 is a use of a granular inoculant
a must. The new types of sterile
peat inoculants contain bacteria
known as 532C which are especial-
ly beneficial on first time soybean

What attracts people to this cen-

Denfield? The Hindmarsh's say it
is the warm, comfortable atmos-

Upon request, guests are wel-

and children and pets are enthusias-
tically accepted.
Customers are essentially "invit-
ed into our home" explains Donna.
"Your room is yours, but if you
want to talk, we're talkers."
The large number of referred cus-
tomers and repeat visitors demon-
strates the Hindmarsh's popularity.
"We are often greeted with hugs,
Christmas cards are sent to tis ad-
dressed to "the adopted family,"
and one couple even attended ow

said.
Compared to bed and breakfasts
within the city, Hind Hope's single
room priced at $25, and its double
at $30 is quite reasonable. A cot is
available for an additional person,
