Pierson

hot
LUCAN - Question: What do
Ballymote and Arva have in com-
mon? Hot pigeons, that's what. A
week ago Len Currah had a bird
that broke the sound -barrier in rac-
ing back from Georgetown. Last
Saturday he had a pigeon that flew
fast enough to wui the Oshawa
race, while Currah pigeons also
placed 4, 5, and 6 in the Cobourg
race.
The big story, of course, was the
success booked by J.P. Loft. (To
avoid misunderstanding we should
point out that we are not speaking
of Mister J.P. Loft, but rather about
the loft of Mr. Jack Pierson) We all
knew it was just a mauer of time
before the Pierson Pigeons would
break into the winner's circle. And
they did it in fine style. They took
positions 1,2 and 3 in the Coburg
race and placed 2,3 and 4 in the
race fromOshawa.
The other positions in the Coburg
race were taken by Jack Brennan
who placed 7, Clarence Hardy 8,
and L. de Haan 9. The rest of the
positions in the Oshawa race were
divided as follows: Adrian Ansems
from distant Parkhill 5 and 6, Len
Currah 7 and 8, Clarence Hardy 9
and 10.
Now that the first races of the
season have been completely domi-
nated by the new members from the
south, the rest of the members of
the Lucan Racing Pigeon Club are
beginning to have second thoughts
about the club's very liberal admis-
sion policy. And the rumour that
Harty Winters has gone into hiding
simply is not true: he and Rict are
on a trip to Holland. Whether or not
he is going to bring back some su-
per Dutch pigeons is a different
matter, of course!

NOTICE OF
PUBLIC MEETING
BOUNDARY ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURES
VILLAGE OF GRAND BEND
TOWNSHIP OF STEPHEN
In 1990 the Village of Grand Bend, in the County of Lambton,
passed By-law 6303, initiating procedures under the Municipal
Boundary Negotiations Act, 1981 and Bill 35, The Sarnia-
Lambton Act, to annex lands from the Township of Stephen (in
the County of Huron).
Section 35 of the Act provided that all Boundary Act Applica-
tions were vested with a Boundary Application Committee ap-
pointed by Lambton County Council. Section 34 (2) sets out
that the boundary Application Committee has authority to rec-
ommend changes in County boundaries if the changes are mi-
nor in the opinion of the Minister of Municipal Affairs.
Grand Bend has applied for Part Lot 2, Lot 3, Part Lot 4, Lake
Road Concession and Lots 1,2,3 and 4, Aux Sables Conces-
sion in Stephen Township, which includes lands on both sides
of Highway 21 and lands south and east of Gill Road. The
Boundary Application Committee will attempt to take a long
term view of what the appropriate boundaries of the Village of
Grand Bend should be so that there will be no constraints to
growth for 25 to 30 years, in the context of what the Minister of
Municipal Affairs may consider to be minor. Discussions with
Stephen Township and Huron County officials are ongoing.
Before preparing its report for consideration by County Council
and the Minister of Municipal Affairs, the Committee is required
to hold at least one public meeting for the purpose of obtaining
information, comments or opinions from the area residents as'
to what they feel the appropriate boundaries in the area should
be.
A Public Meeting will be held on
Wednesday, May 29, 8:00 p.m.

Age is no barrier to physical ac-

Being physically active will let
