Ladies attend Perth deanery

GRANTON - Margaret Oakley
and Muriel Lewis attended the
A.C.W. Perth Deanery meeting
held at St. Patrick's church, Saints -
bury on Tuesday evening. Follow-
ing a dessert tea, President Rose
Cunningham welcomed everyone
and a hymn "The Love of Christ
Constraineth" was sung. The dean-
ery representative Ruth Spencer of
Stratford offered information in re-
spect to her office and presented
Mary Davis with a life member-
ship.
Cassie Technor from Daily Bread
in London was the guest speaker,
when she told of the work that is

the conclusion of the meeting, the

The North Middlesex W.I. Dis-
trict Annual was hosted by North
Lobo Branch at Poplar Hill Baptist

theme Peace for all time. Attending
from the Granton- Women's Insti-
tute were Florence Bryan, Nora
Wissel, Alma Nicholson and Mu-
riel Lewis.
At the St. Thomas' Anglican
church on Sunday, the Rev. John
Marsh of London celebrated the
Eucharist and his message was
about being transformed by the
Holy Spirii.
At the Granton United Church on
Sunday, Ed Sam of Iiderton U.C.
exchanged with Pastor Normalie
Voake. His sermon topic was
These People are Drunk", based
on the lessons from Ezekiel 37 and
Acts 2.
The families of John Forrest and
Kenneth Hodgins spent Wednesday
at Niagara Falls.
A former Granton resident, Ei-
leen Summers died at Chateau Gar-
dens in Parkhill on May 11. The fu-
neral was held on May 14 at the
Haskett Funeral Home in Lucan.
. Interment at Mount Pleasant Ceme-
tery in London.
End of season for
Bible study group

GRAND BEND - The Grand
Bend ladies Bible study gn p held_
• their iend'bf season meeting Tues-
day morning at Sauble Court. Jan
Kobe led a hymn sing. In place of a
regular lesson, each lady read an ar-
ticle which proved interesting.
Cards were signed and gifts given
to two members who are moving
away, Belly Freebaim and Ethel
Lennox.
Each person provided something
for a dainty lunch, with coffee, and
we said our goodbyes.
Bible study will resume again on
September 10.

Derck Etherington read the
scripture for The Acts of the Apos-
tles, Acts 2: 1-21, 41-42. The con-
gregation sang "Breathe On Me
Breath of God", and Rev. Sheila
gave the children's message,
What Is Pentecost and Why is it
Special?"
Kay Cummington gave the Min-
ute for Mission.
The choir sang "0 Christ the
Word Incarnate" accompanied by
the organist, Agnes Bray.

Dorothy Duncan, Janis Richard-
son and Rhoda Rohde attended the
Woodham United Church Wom-
en's meeting on Tuesday evening.
Coming events
Thursday May 23 to Sunday May
26 is the Annual Meeting of Lon-
don Conference in Ridgetown. The
minister and some of our lay dele-
gates will be absent from pastoral
charge at this time.
Sunday May 26's )pint service
will be held at Elimville church at
10 a.m. Guest speaker will be John
Aldom who is a micro -biologist at
University Hospital.
Sunday June 2 is Sunday School
Anniversary at Thames Road at 11
a.m. with Rev. Derek Shelly of
Strathroy as guest minister.
Sunday June 9 is Elimville's Sun-
day School Anniversary at 10 a.m.
with Jeff Lamond speaking about
Camp Bimini.
Sunday June 16 is Communion
Service at both churches.
Due to the dates mentioned
above, the June Coffee morning
will be on June 23. Those people
i responsible for the coffee morning
please look after it on this date.
The Juneeeting of the United
Church Women will be held on
Monday, June 3, with Rev. Andrew
Brindljer of World Vision. The film
Le entitled "Povertv's Women."

Victoria Park in Exeter for a picnic.
Newcomers welcome. Bring a bag
lunch and something to drink. Rain

Queensway News
HENSALL - Fresh rhubarb from
Queensway's own back yard was
enjoyed at supper club on Thursday
night. Residents stewed it with
strawberries for a delicious dessert
to follow cheddar cabbage wedges.
Supper club is experimenting with
recipes from our Queensway Cook-
book. We can definitely recom-
mend that you purchase our cook-
book at the yard sale May 25.
Hensall UCW again provided as-
sistance and prizes on Monday af-
ternoon at bingo. Tuesday after-
noon Rev. Phillips of Varna -
Goshen United Churches led our
Worship Service ani gave Com-
munion.
Wednesday afternoon many resi-
dents benefited from the beautiful
sunny weather by either sitting out-
doors or going for strolls and
wheelchair rides. Those who prefer
our air conditioning stayed indoors
and made lemon coconut bars at
Baking Club.
The Fellowship Singers provided
a terrific Gospel Music Program
Wednesday evening for a large ap-
preciative audience.

and Ryan Taylor became full mem-
bers of the church through their
profession of faith. Each young
man received the gift of a Bible,
presented by Brian Pearen.
The Grand Bend congregation is
holding Vacation Bible school in
co-operation with the Anglican and
Church of God, hosted by the Unit-
ed who are presently looking for
people to help at the V.B.S.
