The ever popular mu- sical was well performed. Several ladies from Granton at- tended the Kirkton Horticultural meeting at the Community Centre on Tuesday evening when Gary and Cathy Smith of St. Thomas gave a presentation on Organic Gardening. Sympathy is extended to the family of the late Reine Lindsay, formerly of the Granton communi- ty, who passed away in London on Wednesday. The Granton Lion's Club held their first bingo for the season at the park pavilion on Thursday eve- ning and will be holding another one May 16. Rev. Beverley Wheeler officiat- ed at the Hodgins -Herbert wed- ding in the St. Thomas' Anglican church on Saturday. A reception followed at the Howard Johnson in London. The Anglican Bible Study group met for a noon luncheon at . the home of Mary Jefferies on Wednes- day, for their last meeting of this season. Rev. Beverley Wheeler was presented with two patio flower ar- rangements prior to leaving this pansh to resume her ministry in Lyndon. A combined parish service was held at the St. Thomas' Anglican church on Sunday, when the Rev. Beverley Wheeler's farewell mes- sage was about remembering that you are God's people and that He loves you. The lessons were read by Olive P. Hodgins and the minis- ter. Special music was rendered by the Arise Group from London. During a time of fellowship fol- lowing the service, Rev. At the Granton United Church on Sunday Pastor Nomalie Voakes' sermon was entitled What's in a name. The lessons were from Prov- erbs in a name. The lessons were from Proverbs 8 and Acts 9. Pastor Voakes baptized Whitney Shirlene, daughter of Don and Joanne Liley; Amanda Diane, daughter of Chris and Valerie Brad- ley; and Jennifer Leigh, daughter of Jim and Brenda Hardie. The Sun- day School children presented pot- ted flowers to all mothers. A Bryan led the psalm and the c dren's time theme was Tell me your name. Flowers were placed in the church in memory of Jessie Bilyea by her family, and from the funeral of Refine Lindsay. U.C.W. Unit throe met at Jean Cook's home on Tuesday. Margaret Bryan presided in the absence of April Bryan and opened with a reading Recipe for bacon where husband and wife changed roles. Plans were made to visit Interiors 91. Ruth Cook led the worship service, read- ing Mary Model Mother and the scripture from Luke one and two. The hymn Gentle Mary was sung and the meditation was based on four phrases from scripture compar- ing Mary's life as a mother with parenthood today. Ruth Cook and Elizabeth Garrett presented a hu- morous parody "How to make a 'sick' call". Marion Thomson and the hostess served refreshments. • ..
