The juniors have had a busy schedule of late, with three games in the past week, and are riding a foul game unbeaten streak. South Huron will host Mitchell in the opening game of the playoffs Wednesday, a team with whom they split two earlier games this sea- son. The Panthers scored early when Sean McCann converted a nice feed from Jamie Dougall. The Panthers added another at the end of the half when Trevor Taylor scored from a scramble in front of the opposition goal. The Panthers continued to press throughout the second half but failed to capitalize on several chances. With just under a minute to go in the game, Sivichay Senkhounmany broke down the left wing and placed the ball under the arm of a diving goaltender on the short side to seal the victory. Eugene Hartman played a strong game ,while Darren Kints and Darren Malcolm combined to earn the shut- out. On Friday, the Panthers travelled to Goderich where they earned another victory thanks to a complete team effort. Both South Huron Continued on page 20. All members of the Team Circus crew are from the Kirkton-Mitchell area. Another strong link of this vaga- bond team is the sponsors which make their valiant effort possible. Eickmeier couldn't say enough good things about the team's spon- sors. "If it wasn't for our sponsors, we wouldn't be able to do this. We're amateurs racing in a professional sport." Team Circus was formed nine years ago. Eickmeier is an original member, along with Kelis, Henyler- son and Baxter. Edwards came on the scene in 1986. The team got its start in 1982 when Eickmeier decided he wanted to enter the Soo 500. With good memories of a produc- tive season, Team Circus now looks forward to the grass drags, which start in July. Jack Pierson 'Team Circus hes winni By Pat Payton Sports Editor for the St. Marys Journal -Argus KIRKTON - The snow and ice dust have settled and Team Circus can look back on the well-earned spoils of the 1990-91 snowmobile racing season. "We had a really good ear; we're well pleased with what we've done," says Brian Eickmeier, who drives the sleds along with Trevor Edwards. "This was about our best year yet." Both Eickmeier, 40 and Edwards, 20, are RR 1 Kirkton residents. On the ice ovals of the Ontario Snowmobile Racing Federation (OSRF) circuit, Eickmeier finished second overall in .B -club competi- tion and Edwards in first place in C -club competition on their Arctic Cat '90 EXT and '91 Prowler. At the recent OSRF banquet in Richmond Hill, Team Circus picked up a bevy of trophies and prizes as a reward for a successful season. Congratulations are in order, since Brennan pigeons also took posi- tions 3 and 5. And just to prove that his fantastic Georgetown win was no fluke, Len Currah placed 2 and 4 in this race.
