GRAND BEND - An excellent at-
tendance Sunday morning at Grand
Bend United, when the Sacrament
of Holy Communion was celebrat-
ed. Pastor Colin Stover's sermon
topic was "A Potent Drink", with
scriptures from 1 John 5:1-8 and
John 15: 9 - 17 read by Sherwood
Eddy. Special music was a solo
"The Penitent", sung by Don
McLean, accompanied at piano by
Lynn Tremain.
New members welcomed by
transfer were Carol Barrett, Bryan
and Marilyn Beattie, Dale Bland,
Cleve and Eleanor Brophey, Jean
Clamperton, Philip and Peggy
Cummings, Etta and George Hellik-
er, Anne Reycrafat, Vi and Fred
Stacey. By Re -Affirmation of faith
were Walter and Willy Ord.
The Grand Bend congregation is
holding Vacation Bible school
again this summer in co-operation
with the Anglican and the Church
of God.
United Church Women meet
Thursday, May 9 at 1:30 in the Sun-
day School rooms. Roll call - Your
mother's maiden name. All ladies
welcome.

held their May meeting with a din -

gion to welcome home "Snowbird'
members" and show appreciation to
the Legion for all they have done
for the club. 88 members and
friends enjoyed the delicious meal,
followed by old time toe tapping
music and dancing. Theorchestra
are six senior local area men who
call themselves "The Swing Sing-
ers."
President Ron Dann presided for
program. He reminded us of the
senior games upcoming in Mitchell
in June, and he gave 2 readings In-
come tax and Memory Lane. Vi
Stacey read a poem on Don't quit".
Those with May birthdays re-
ceived a handclap as well as George
and Iva Latta for a May wedding
anniversary. Don't forget the Sen-
iors euchre at the Legion tonight
May 8 at 7:30 p.m.

Golden Glimpses
ZURICH - Lady luck was with us on Sunday throughout the official
opening ceremonies which were held on the lawn for the new addition
to the Home. Tours of the Home and refreshments followed. We owe
our thanks to all the volunteers who helped prepare for this undertak-
ing, including the student choir fiom Brucefield Public School and our
own volunteer students, as well as the Grade five class from St. Boni-
face School who made an attractive congratulatory paper mach6 con-
versation piece.
We are also indebted to the parents of these students who provide
transportation for their children participating here.

the service of Morning Prayer was
held at St. Patrick's at 8:30 a.m.
Margaret Carroll read the lessons,
Cheryl Carroll provided the music
and Rev. Beverley Anne Wheeler
spoke to the congregation on
"Helping One Another".
On Sunday, May 12, a joint par-
ish service will be held at St.
Thomas, Granton at 10 a.m. This
will be the last service that Rev.
Beverley Anne Wheeler will be
with us before her move to St.
Ploys Cathedral, London.
May 14, St. Patrick's will host the
Perth Spring Deanery with registra-
tion and dessert beginning at 6:30
and 7:15 p.m.
Cassie Ticknor, co-ordinator of
the Daily Bread Programme from
St. Pauls Cathedral, London will
speak to the ladies and will also
have a slide presentation. Each
guest is asked to bring a non-
perishable food item for Daily
Bread. New Life Book Store will
a1sb have a display.
Bible Study this week will be
held at the home of Mary Jefferies.
St. Patrick's held a very success-
ful work day on Saturday. Thanks
to ' al I who were able to come and
help.
Hugh and Hazel Davis enjoyed a
holiday in U.S.A. recently, visiting
with cousins Bill and Christine
Hicks of Flint, Michigan. The
couple also spent time in Indiana,
Virginia and Kentucky.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack MacGillivray
of Lions Head were Sunday visitors�
with Bob and Heather MacGilliv-
ray and family.
