. lot of stiff competition and it was
chalked up as a learning experi-
ence.
The first team the locator played
was Strathroy and they gave upi
the only goal resulting in a 1-0
loss. Against St. Thomas the Pan-
thers fell 2-0 and then lost 3-0 to

EXETER - It's been a busy
schedule for the South Huron Dis-
trict High School Panthers senior
boys soccer team as they not only
continue to compete in the Huron -
Perth league, but have played in
tournaments the past two week-
ends.
On Saturday, the Panthers host-

0 against South London before
dropping a 3-0 decision to the
eventual tournament champions
St. Thomas Central Elgin and 2-0
to Sarnia Northern.
Central Elgin and Petrolia
played to a scoreless game but
Central Elgin won 3-2 in the
shootout.
The previous weekend in Inger-
soll, the Panthers had a very suc-
cessful outing advancing to the
semi-finals where they were beat-
en in a shootout.
Opening with a 1-0 win against
St. Thomas, South Huron then tied
Tillsonburg and London Banning
and won both in the shootout. The

Panthers tournament: In Exeter
on Saturday, the locals just missed
advancingto the playoff round as
they lost 2-0 to Sarnia Northern.
The Sarnia squad went on to win
the consolation final 6-3 against
London Montcalm in the eight -

Following a scoreless first half
against Sarnia, Exeter goalie Frank
Ihrig and fullback Bill Jennison got
tangled up and Sarnia scored on a
short kick.
•
"We let too many balls fall in
front of us," said Panthers' coach
George McEwan.
Midway through the second half,
Sarnia was charged with a hand
ball in the 18 -foot box giving the
Panthers a penalty kick. Exeter's
Sisavay Sengkhounmany couldn't
connect as he hit the crossbar.
"He's been hit and miss all year,
he's our shooter," said McEwan of
Setgkhounmany.
"We try and get him the batt but
he doesn't get a handle on it."
Sarnia had a good chance to go
ahead on their own penalty kick as
Ihrig slopped Peter Nasiokos on the
original shot and again on the re-
bound. But Chris Yorke headed the
ball into the net and it was 2-0.
Sarnia goalie Steve Sutcliffe
