Elimville 4-H finale

EXETER - What a way to end
our Fitness and Health project but
to go on the Walk-a-thon for Sick
Kids, in memory of Stephanie Skin-
ner, held on April 28. All 11 mem-
bers plus the leaders and their
mothers participated in the five
mile walk from the Youth Centre in
Exeter, out Huron Street East to
Morrison Dam and back again.
Everyone enjoyed the refreshments
at both stops.
Student honoured - Outstand-
ing students of the Fanshawe
College Broadcast & Journalism
Programs were honoured at the
College's Broadcast Award
show, Saturday, April 6. Gradu-
ate Carrie Anne Hartle, 21, of
Ailsa Craig, took the London
City Press Club Award for the
Best Reporter of the Year. Car-
rie
arrie Anne received a cash prize
of $500.00 and an engraved
plaque for her demonstrated ex-
cellence - in News Reporting.
Congratulations from her family:
Les, Carol and Jody, and Grand-
mothers Jennie Hartle and Car-
rie Kyle.
Lucan Seniors
LUCAN - May 2 was the day the
Lucan Seniors met for their weekly
meeting.
0 Canada was sung accompanied
by Mary Kooy at the piano.
Ailsa Craig seniors are hosting a
Euchre May 8 at 1:30 p.m. Anyone
wishing a ride may contact Dean
and one will be made available
with a member who is attending it.
Harry Noels reported on the sen-
iors games. Liz Conlin made a mo-
tion the club liaay the fees for the
club members who participate.
The Grand Bend Seniors Bowl-
ing team is coming to the Lucan
Lanes on Monday mornings at
9:30.
Elsie Gibson contacted
McNaughton Tours and they have a
one -day trip available to the Farm-
er's Market in Waterloo on Thurs-
day, June 13. They will leave Lu -
can at 8:30 a.m. and be back
between 5 and 6:00. Dinner will be
at the Stone Crock and we'll see the
country and visit St. Jacobs. Price
will be $3$.50, Jean Hod?ins will
be'lh • charge- and those wishing to

Jean Miller entertained with a
reading "Do Come In".
Bingo and games were enjoyed.

gins, Pat Davis and Verna Ibittson.

CENTRALIA - At the United
Church on Sunday, Bev Robinson
took the service. Pastor Udall was
at Exeter United Church for their
U.C.W. anniversary.
Next Sunday will be a Mothers
Day celebration with Sunday
School pupils taking part.
An Official Board meeting will
be held on May 14 at Centralia at 8
p.m. On June 2 is scheduled a joint
service and church picnic.

Church service
Rev. Sheila Macgregor was in
charge of the Sixth Sunday of
Easter Church Service on Sunday
morning. The Seasonal Colour is
White.
Rev. MacGregor read the first
scripture Lesson John 15:9-17.
The congregation sang the chil-
dren's hymn "Will Your Anchor
Hold" and Rev. MacGregor gave
the children's message "Recy-
cling".

Rev. MacGregor read the New
Testament Lesson Acts 10:44.48.
Her sermon was interesting and in-
spiring. Jack and Ferne Stewart
and Marion Cann provided the re-
freshments after the church service
on Sunday morning. Sunday after-
noon Rev. MacGregor baptized
Jennifer Gail Baker and Bradley
William Baker, children of Gail
and Bill Baker and Shawn Matthew
Willem, son of Susan and Richard
Willem at Elimville United Church.

SHIPKA - A number of Shi
natives attended the Golden ee
club dinner and dance held at
Legion in Grand Bend Wednesday
night. It was great to hear old time
toe tapping music played by a live
Birthday wishes this week to
Lorne Devine, of Zurich.
The Starlite Drive -In Theatre at
Shipka opened on the weekend af-
ter bemg closed a year. It was for-
merly owned by Emerson Desjar-
dine, of Grand Bend, and was sold
last January to the Barnes family,
of Hamilton. The theatre is being
managed by Jeffery James Barnes.

in Action, April 13-17, presenting
their program at high schools in

cinnati and hopes to crack the
NFL lineup this year.

visit Wonderland
CREDITON - More than 20
members of the youth group of
Zion United Church enjoyed a trip
to Canada's Wonderland Saturday
with Rev. Ed and Lisa Laksmanis.
The same group will meet again
this coming Saturday afternoon at 2
p.m. to decorate the church for
Mother's Day.
At the church Sunday morning,
the service was conducted by the
Gideon of South Huron.
Earl Miller explained the work of
the Gideons and Harry Stunt pre-
sented the sermon. Carol Stuart
provided a message in song.
