GRANTON - At the St. Thomas'
Anglican Church on Sunday, May
5, the Rev. Beverley Wheeler's
homily was about God choosing
His people to bear fruits and to love
one another. The lessons were read
by Cathie Wessman and Rev.
Wheeler. In a service of Holy Bap-
tism, the rector baptized Christine
Mary, daughter of Bill and Joyce
Shannon; Bonnie Lynn Oakley,
wife of Brian Oakley, and their
daughters Melissa Anne and Ni -
chole Margaret Oakley. The an-

Lord" was sung by the choir, ac-
companied
by the organist Marlene
French.
A time of fellowship followed the
service.
Congratulations to Kevin and
Karen (Tyrrell) Dann who were
married in London on April 19 and
are residing near Granton.
The Anglican bible study was
held at the home of Nadine Bedell
on Wednesday, May 1.
The St. Thomas' Anglican
Church Chancel Guild held a din-
ner meeting at Sir Joe's restaurant
in St. Marys on Friday, May 3 in
honour of the Rev. Beverley
Wheeler who has been appointed as
an assistant at St. Paul's Cathedral
in London. A short business meet-
ing followed the dinner.
At the Granton United Church on
Sunday, Russell Tousaw of Embro
led the service in the absence of
Normalie Voakes. The sermon was
about Life with meaning based on
the lessons from Proverbs 3 and
Luke 12.
The Granton UTH Group met at
the United Church on Sunday eve-
ning.

The St. Thomas' A.C.W. met at
the home of Marlene French on
Thursday evening, May 2. Irene
Roloson led the meditation entitled
"Look Up" on the theme of the As-
cension of Jesus. Marlene French
read the scripture lesson. Olive P.
Hodgins gave a reading entitled
"Hugs" and Margaret Oakley a
poem about "Mothers". A video
from the Heart and Stroke Founda-
tion called "Heart Smart" was

Unit two met on Thursday eve-
ning, May 2 at Heather Benner's
home. Julie Riddell presided and
plans were made for several fund-
raising projects and more U.C.
cookbooks arc being ordered. The
program for the general U.C.W.
meeting in June was discussed, as
well as the Fun Day.
The guest speaker was Linda
Strauss of Stratford who showed
slides and told about sleeping chil-
dren around the world, for which
cause, aid was first organized by
Murray Dryden.
Lunch was served by the hostess.
Unit one met at Amelia Jame -
son's home on Thursday afternoon.
