Monday night, Grand Bend council decided that a bylaw would have to wait because local merchants have already bought their supply of fireworks for the summer season. Kyle Harrison, owner of the Barefoot Pedlar Variety Store, said the merchants want the bylaw to come into effect after Labour Day. "None of us are having any problem with the bylaw as written, but you've waited too long," said Harrison. The bylaw statesllage except no one can sell fireworks in the vit three business days prior to and on the days upon which May 24 and July 1 are celebrated. Also, fireworks can't be dis- charged except on those days. When council takes a look at the bylaw again in September, they will be looking at expanding the dates to include American holi- days as well. Harrison told council the busi- nesses about nesses have already t $10,000 worth of fireworks and said what would hap limited days to sell fireworks.
