Elementary schools swing into spring concerts

ZURICH - Elementary school
students in Zurich are busy with re-
hearsals in preparation for their up-
coming spring concerts.
The Zurich Public School chil-
dren will be presenting their play
called Hotel Hollywood on Tues-
day, May 7 in their gym at 1:15
p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
The primary grades of St. Boni-
face School will present two perfor-
mances of their spring concert at
St. Boniface on Thursday, May 2 at
1:15 and 7:30.
St. Boniface Retreat
Tuesday and Wednesday the
grades seven and eight students of
St. Boniface School had a retreat to
prepare for the Sacrament of Con-
firmation that will be held on May
9. Chris Jackson was the retreat
master.
These students will also be going
to South Huron District High
School in Exeter on Wednesday,
May 15 for a drug and alcohol
awareness presentation.
Brown ies
Tuesday, May 7 wife the last
Brownie meeting for this season.
The annual Fly Up Ceremony will
be that evening to honour three sen-
ior Brownies who can now enter
Guides; Janet Thiel, Giselle Durand
and Sarah Van Aaken.
Parents are welcome to the event
which begins at 7:30 p.m. in St.
Boniface School. The girls arc to
be there at 6:30.
Music Recital
The private students who take pi-
ano lessons from Laurie Erb will be
holding their music recital at St. Pe-
ter's Lutheran Church Hall on
Thursday, May 9 beginning at 7
p.m.
Advance tickets are now availa-
ble at $2 for adults and includes re-
freshments. Phone Laurie at 236-
7722.
Bake Sale
The Mother's Day Tea, Bake Sale
and Craft Display will be held at
the Blue Water Rest Home on Sat-
urday, May 11 from 2-3:30 p.m.,
sponsored by the Ladies' Auxiliary.
Fame
Tickets are now on sale for the

Golden Glimpses
ZURICH - The final touches are
being put into place for the Official
Opening of the new wing of the
Home next Sunday, May 5, com-
mencing at 2:00 p.m. when the rib-
bon cutting and tours will take
place, followed by refreshments.
The public are invited to attend.
On Saturday, May 13, the Moth
er's Day tea and bake sale will be
held in the auditorium between
2:00 and 4:00 p.m. This year will
be the 25th anniversary of the
Home's opening.
Last Monday the residents were
treated to an outing in the bus, the
first of the spring season. Thanks to
Marc Chalut for volunteering his
time.
The April birthday party was
sponsored by the C.W.L. of Grand
Bend Catholic Church on Tuesday
evening. An entertaining program
was provided by the Guides and
Brownies of Grand Bend. Resi-
dents having birthdays and receiv-
ing gifts, courtesy of the Ladies
Auxiliary were: Mattie Erb, Verlyn
Fisher, Kurt Gebel, Anna Heck-
man, Lucinda Keller, Harvey Keys,
Clayton Pfile and Ann Willert. Re-
freshments were served following
the program.
Clayton Nile is still a patient in
St. Joseph's Hospital, London.
The sympathy of residents and
staff is extended to the families of
the late Isabelle (Belle) Merner.
Bingo was played on Friday eve-
ning followed by refreshments.
The Sunday evening chapel ser-
vice was conducted by Mr.
McBride of the Zurich Mennonite
church.

Garage Sale
The Optimist Club will be hold-
ing a garage sale on May 18 and 19
at the home of Linda Markham at

Bowling Banquet
Over 200 attended the Zurich
Town and Country Lanes Bowling
Banquet Saturday, held at the Hen-
sall Community Centre. Bowlers
consisted of ladies', men's and
mixed leagues. Bowlers enjoyed a
dinner followed by music featuring
Night Wind. Next years Monday
Night Ladies League executive will
be the Road Runners 11 team.
Fellowship Dinner
A fellowship dinner was held af-
ter the morning service at St. Pe-
ter's Lutheran Church on Sunday.
Senior Diners
Wednesday's meal was followed
by a penny sale which proved suc-
cessful. Afterwards, three tables of
euchre were enjoyed. Frieda
Moore was the door prize winner.
Personals
Congratulations to Dan Watson
and Amy Gordon who were mar-
ried on Saturday at Immaculate
Heart of Mary Church in London.
Congratulations to Larry and
Debbie Denomme who celebrated
their 15 wedding anniversary

Rock on - That famous star Robbie Squintan,
played' by Peter Dwell Bisback, belts out one
of his hits during rehearsal for the Hensall
Public School's production of Rock On. The
musical revival can be seen at the school
Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.
