Crediton WI names officers
CREDITON - The annual meet-
ing of the Crediton Women's Insti-
tute was held last Wednesday night
with the full slate of officers being
installed.
The new officers are as follows:
Past president - Eleanor Roeszler,
President - Irene Haugh; Vice-
presidents - Margaret McClure,
Lorna Finkbeiner; Secretary - Jane
Dearing; Assistant - Dianne Fink-
beiner; Treasurer - Alma Davey;
Assistant - Dianne Finkbeiner.

Cancer ride

LUCAN - Pat Hodgins of Chest-
nut Street, Lucan, participated in
the "Great Ride for Cancer" in the
Pinery Provincial Park, on Sunday
and thanks to her many sponsors
from Lucan and area, she raised
$1170.00 for the Canadian Cancer
Society.
This is the 16th year that Pat has
ridden in the "Ride for Cancer"
starting while Lucan sponsored it
from 1976-1982. When Lucan dis-
continued it, she rode in Strathroy
from 1983-1990. This year :he
joined the Ailsa Craig riders.
She was accompanied by her sis-
ter, Laura and nephews, Jeffery and
Christopher McLean, who also
completed the ride.

LUCAN - In last week's report
about Lucan area students compet-
ing in the London Kiwanis Festival,
one name was omitted.
Kent Hardy won three first place
awards in the 9 and 10 age catego-
ries at the festival.

DASHWOOD - Ralph and Mary
Weber held a farewell parry Friday
evening for Victor and Irene Hart-
man. They have purchased a home
in Zurich.
Twenty four neighbours enjoyed
court whist and they presented
them with a gift.

plus a bake sale Saturday June 8 in
conjunction with the community
yard sales. Pack all your treasures
in your car trunk and sell it from
the trunk at the back of the church.

Bob Hoffman for pick up. Everyor
is welcome to participate as this is
a fund raiser for missions.
Aidene Wolfe announccs she
is a great grandmother as of Satur-
day. Steven and Tracy Hillman had
a son - Joshua Steven.
The Miller family celebrated Emi-
lie Hutchinson's first birthday on
Sunday, April 28. Weekend and
Sunday guests with Hubert and
Vesta were, Dianne and Bob Big-
gam, Toronto, Vickie and Bob and
Emilie Hutchinson, Mississauga,
Lisa Miller and Frank Giffin, Gor-
don Hutchinson, Sarnia, and John
Brintncll, Exeter.

SAINTSBURY - The Holy Com-
munion service was held at Si. Pat-
rick's at 11:00 a.m. with Nadene
Bedell reading the scripture. Rose
Cunningham was the server and
Cheryl Carroll provided the music.
Rev. Beverly Wheeler focused her
homily on the story of public heal-
ing in the first days of church.
The congregaiton celebrated in
the Sacrament of Holy Baptism
when Raymond Edward, infant son
r"f Bill and Lauree Wheeler of Lon-
don was baptized.Raymond Ra mond is
the
grandson of Rev. Beverly Wheeler.
On Sunday, May 5, Morning
Prayer will be held at St. Patrick's
at 8:30 a.m. Bible study will meet
on Wednesday afternoon at the
home of Mart»aerite Greenlee.

At Zion United Church Sunday

This Wednesday, both choirs will

school and the seniors at 8 p.m.

South Huron Hospital in Exeter.
UCW to meet
The regular May meeting of the
Crediton United Church Women
will be held tomorrow night, Thurs-
day in the form of a mother and
daughter banquet at 7 p.m. at the
Three AAA Family Restaurant in
Exeter.
Saturday, May 4 is the annual
Crediton ball diamond cleanup at 9
a.m. All coaches and players are
asked to help with the cleanup.
