Former Exeter woman celebrates 100th birthday AILSA CRAIG - Gladys Fraser had a lot of people out to her birth- day party Monday afternoon at Ail- sa Craigs Craigholme, but then this was no ordinary birthday. As one person observed, it's not every day you get a chance to meet someone who turns 100 years old. "If anyone wanted to live to be a hundred, you'd want to live in this condition," said Craigholme's activ- ity director as dozens of people passed through to extend their best wishes to the area's newest centen- arian. Gladys Fraser likes to go by ihe nickname "Jimmy" confesses her friend Lillie Dobbs. In fact. many of ihe staff at Craigholme over the past 10 years Since Fraser has been a resident there have mostly known her by that name. Fraser used to live in Exeter and worked at the Huron Park air base during the war. While her eyesight has failed her these past years, Fraser is still witty and alert enough to enjoy a good conversation, says Dobbs. Joining the well wishers at Mon- day's party were several messages of congratulations from none other than Queen Elizabeth II, the Cana- dian Governor General, the Ontario Lieutenant Governor, and Ontario's Prem ier. Also making a rare visit was Gla- dys' sister Rae Aikens from Exeter Villa, also well into her 90s. 4 Forthcoming marriage - Mr. and Mrs. Jack Gilmour of Lucan are pleased to announce the forth- coming marriage of their daugh- ter, Janet Elizabeth to Alan Mac- intosh, ao-intosh, son of Mr. and MrS.
