President Bill Uniac is surprised
at the number of busy workers in
the club and expects the member-
ship to swell to 200 by the fall.
Monday night he showed a se-
ries of slides pointing out work the
society has already done.
"The municipality is the biggest
beneficiary of the Horticultural
Society. It will benefit the 12 -

In February, the society distribut-

school children as part of an educa-
tional and interest promotion.
There are at least a dozen pro-
jects planned for the upcoming year
and two major capital projects.
Those include promotion and es-
tablishment of improved parkland
within the village like the north riv-
er bank west of Highway 21, the
site of the recent shoreline im-
provement.
"We have a very serious erosion
problem that should have been tak-
en care of," said Uniac.
He noted the society realize they
have to work with nature when do-
ing cleanup.
"We are going to have our own
Earth Day cleanup in the village,"
said Uniac.
The society also is going to be
doing improvements to the Walker
Drain and the north bank of the riv-
er.
Uniac said local landscaping
companies are not at all upset with
the society's work.
"None of them thought we'd be
stepping on anyone's toes," he said.
