By dialing *OPP on your cellular handset (*677) you can get in touch with the closest OPP communica- tion centre no matter where you are in Ontario. So while this area does not yet have 911 service, this is the quickest way for callers on the go to get in touch with emergency ser- vices. The OPP have set up the new number in order to free up lines on 911 service which has seen a jump in the number of calls it receives since cellular telephones became Popular. Motorists are encouraged to use the new line to report. accidents and other road emergenciesand po- lice. Calls on the calls, where applicable, are free to phone users.
