tion centre no matter where you are

not yet have 911 service, this is the
quickest way for callers on the go
to get in touch with emergency ser-
vices.
The OPP have set up the new
number in order to free up lines on
911 service which has seen a jump
in the number of calls it receives
since cellular telephones became
Popular.
Motorists are encouraged to use
the new line to report. accidents and
other road emergenciesand po-
lice. Calls on the

to Hensall United
HENSALL - The highlight of the
Sunday service at Hensel' United
Church was the dedication Of the
Bible of Emmeline Smillie. It was
presented to the Church by Lorne
Elder a phew of Miss Smillie on'
behalf Of the nieces and nephews.
This Bible had been presented to
Miss Smillie in September of 1914
when she at the age of 22 went to
India with her brother Ben as an
missionary teacher. The Bible was
presented by the Church Women of
the Hensall Church.
The Smillie family came to Can-
ada in 1821 settling in Quebec. In
1854 they moved further west to
Ontario settling in the Township of
Tuckersmith. Miss Smillie's par-
ents Ben and Jane (Buchanan) had
Seven children - Mary 1871 - 1946,
Marg, Dr. Jennie 1878 - 1981,
Dr. ' Alex, Emmeline 1882-1867,
end Rev. Ben 18844946.
Emmaline trained as a nurse at
Toronto General and toured Ontario
lecturing on home nursing and hy-
giene:

wife.

the University of Toronto and an
additional B.A.from Queen's Uni-

Parkdale Collegiate in Toronto.
