GRANPON - A fish fry was held
in Kirkton Sunday, sponsored by
the Optimist Club.
At the St. Thomas Anglican
Church on Sunday, the Rev Bever-
ley Wheeler homily was about the
Good Shepherd and being called to
be shepherds of the earthly things
with which all people are blessed.
Melanie Beason and Rev. Wheel-
er read the lessons and the Arise
Group from London provided spe-
cial music. A time of fellowship
followed the service.
The Anglican parish boards of
management and parochial commit-
tees met at St. Paul's church in
Kirkton on Monday evening, with
Bishop Robert Townshead, in re-
gard to a replacement for the Rev.
Beverley Wheeler who has been ap-
pointed as an assistant at St. Paul's
Cathedral in London as of May 15.
At the Granton United Church on
Sunday Pastor Normalie Voakes'
message was about Post Resurrec-
tion appearances Part II - at the Sea-
shore. The lessons were taken from
Acts 4 and John 21.
Get well wishes to Irene Roloson
who has been a patient in the St.
Marys Memorial Hospital since last
week.
Margaret Oakley and Muriel Le-
wis attended the Anglican Bible
Study at the home of Mabel Need-
ham on Wednesday aftemoon.
Larry Lewis of London spent part
of Saturday at his home in the vil-
lage.

CLANDEBOYE - Elsie Lewis
was hostess for the April meeting
of Clandeboye Women's Institute.

A meeting was held on Monday
morning to plan the programs for
the coming year. The next meeting
in May will be held at the home of
Lil McLellan in Exeter.
Annual visit - The Exeter Rebekah Lodge held their banquet last
Wednesday for the annual visit of the district deputy president.

CENTRALIA - The April meet-
ing of Centralia UCW was held in
the church. They had as guests
UCW members from Zion, Credi-
ton, Elimville and Thames Road.
Pastor Udall welcomed everyone.
Lois Wilson then sang a solo. The
Scripture was read by Marian De -
lane.
Margaret Cook introduced the
guest speaker, Susan Howson who
showed slides of Camp Menese-
tung located north of Goderich.
Margaret and Marian thanked Su-
san and presented her with a gift.
Pastor Udall invited everyone to a
delicious lunch.
Sympathy of the community is
expressed to Mrs. Leona Glavin
and family following the death of
her sister in London.
At the euchre in the community
centre last Monday evening, prize
winners were: high score Marlyn
Dixon, Gordon Eaton; lone hands
Iva Blair, Percy Noels; low score
Catherine Elston, Andy Thompson.
The next euchre evening will be
April 29 at 8 p.m.
At the-UUIrted Church National
Camp Sunday was observed.
Wednesday evening 6:30 p.m Con-
formation classes will continue at
the manse. A date to put on your
calendar is for a church picnic on
Jne 2 at Centralia.
Jack and Marg Patterson have re-
turned home from the sunny south
where they spent the winter.
Saintsbury by H. Davis
SAINTSBURY - St. Patrick's
held a board meeting Tuesday eve-
ning at the home of Hugh and Ha-
zel Davis with 10 members
present. A work day was planned
for Saturday, May 4, at 9:30 a.m.
The rain date is Saturday, May 11.
Everyone is to being lunch. 'Rev.
Beverley Wheeler and Ray Wheel-
er were dinner guests with the Da-
vis' prior to the meeting.
The Holy 'Communion service
was held at St. Patrick's at 8:30
a.m. Sunday with Ryan Carroll
reading the scripture readings.
Cheryl Carroll provided the music
while Rev. Beverley Wheeler fo-
cused her homily on the story of
"The Good Shepherd" and the 23
Psalm,
Sunday, April 28, the service of
Holy Communion will be held at
St. Patrick's at 11 a.m. The reading
will be Acts 8:26-40, 1 John 4:7-
12, Responsive reading Psalm -
22:25 -30, The Gospel John 15:1-8.
The theme "Growth and Change"
Lisa Carroll is to be server and
Margaret Carroll lay assistant.

Lutheran League
meeting in
Huron Park
HURON PARK - The Ontario
District of the International Luther-
an Laymen's League, will be hold-
ing their 41st Convention on April
27 and 28 at Centralia College in
Huron Park. The theme of the con-
vention will be Walk in the Light. '
The Rev. Don Porter, St. Louis,
Missouri, will be the banquet
speaker. Hosts for the convention
will be the Stratford Circuit, includ-
ing congregations from Tavistock,
Stratford, Seebach's Hill, Wartburg,
Mitchell, Monkton, Logan Twp.,
Exeter, Dashwood and Goderich.
The International Lutheran Lay-
men's League is a 130,000 volun-
teer membership organization. On
radio, the League sponsors two
English-language programs: The
Lutheran Hour, Crosswalk and a
Spanish-language radio drama Ayer,
Hoy y Siempre. On television die
league sponsors the weekly 30 -
minute religious drama, This is The
Life and television specials. League
headquarters are in St. Louis, Mo,
with a Canadian office in Kitchen-
er, Ontario, and overseas Lutheran
Hour offices in 19 countriees.
An auxiliary organization of The
Lutheran Church -Missouri Synod
and Lutheran Church-Canda, the
league also provides a service min-
istry through about 1,400 affiliated
groups in congregations throughout
North America.
