BEND - The second ) performance of "As the Turns" played to a packed house at the Grand Bend Legion on Friday evening. Tickets had been sold out again, two weeks in ad- vance. Once again the sound of laughter filled the air, and many members of the audience narrowly escaped serious injury "laughing till it hurt" or "rolling in the aisles". This talented troupe of comedians may be back by popular demand for yet a third performance - who knows? Congratal, abors to Director/actor Barbara Wheeldon and her capti- vating cast. About Town The May flowers should be spec- tacular this year, after all the April showers we've been having. The ice banks on Lake Huron were gone early too, this year. The ice that normally clings to the beach shore disappeared in that heavy thunder storm on March 27, melting away in time for Easter. Any bets on an early spring? Welcome home to Grads Vlem- mix, back home in Grand lend af- ter a week in a London hospital. Good to see you feeling better! Catholic news Congratulations to young Grego- ry Parker who received his Fust Holy Communion on Sunday at 11 a.m. Mass, with his parents and family. Father Beck was celebrant at all weekend Masses, assisted at 11 a.m. Mass by Deacon Sam Dix- on. Rose Vanbruaene was reader and cantor, and she and her husband Jerry served as Eucharistic Minis- ters. Roberta Walker performed a solo "Come Down, Lord' to a taped accompaniment. In his sermon, Father Beck re- minded the congregation that they are witnesses of the fact that Jesus Christ rose from the dead. Our pub- lic example is far more eloquent than mere words, when we receive the Eucharist at Mass, as proof of our belief in the risen Christ. A new Communion Chalice was presented to the parish by Mrs. Martindale in memory of her late husband, Gordon Martindale, a member of the Knights of Colum- bus.
