Rev. Bill Jones officiat- ed. Martyne is the daughter of Mrs. Doris Denham of Exeter and the late Ronald Denham and Bernard is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Abe Benoit of Appin. The maid of honour was Debbie McLellan, Belmont, friend of the bride. The bridesmaids were Brenda Denham and Lyn- da Denham, London, sisters of the bride and Nancy Denham, Seaforth, sister-in-law of the bride. The best man was Tim Benoit, Glencoe, brother of groom. Ushers were Chris Be- noit, Glencoe, brother of the groom, Wayne Denham, brother of the bride and Joe Swambay, Waterford, friend of the groom. Leanne Burgin was organist and Cheryl Meyer, Waterloo, sister of bride and Reta Caw, Appin, sister of groom were so- loists. The reception following was held at Kirkton Woodham Community Centre. The couple honeymooned in Quebec City and now reside in Listowel. Dinner and reception followed at the Shera- ton Armories Hotel. Debra is the daughter of Ken and Eileen So- merton, London and Trevor Is the son of Don and Janet Kobe, Grand Bend. The happy couple is living and working in Toronto. With Doris Peebles as discus- sion leader they studied James 2:1-13, from the "Faith in Action" book. No man lives to himself, much less the Christian as he nibs shoul- ders with people about him. Our attitudes, actions and reactions to others constantly need to be checked. As our faith operates in response to the needs and pres- sures of society, God will be achieving His goals within us. The Bible study group express sympathy to the family of one of our long time members, Vera Brown, who passed away last week. Her funeral servize was Thursday from T. Harry Hoffman funeral home. The afternoon unit of United Church Women met at the home of Vera Rempel in Grand Bend last Thursday afternoon. Vera was in charge of worship and program. She read scripture from Matthew, and showed a vide- otape of the Holy Land, much en- joyed by all. The hymn My fathers world was sung. President Lorcen Gill conducted business. Nineteen ladies answered roll call on What does spring mean to you? Bertie Keyes reported on attending the London Conference at Sault Ste. Marie. The ladies discussed having a church supper for men on May 7. Lunch was served by Laura Fle- welling and Jean Cassidy. Grand Bend Golden Age Club will be having a Seniors euchre par- ty tonight, April 17, at the Legion at 7:30 p.m. Riverview Women's Institute AILSA CRAIG - It was grand- children's day at the April meeting of Riverview Women's Institute. Gertrude Rosser officiated the programme and her granddaughters Allison and Megan Daigle enter- tained the group with piano solos. Mary Rees presented each of the girls with a plate of "goodies". Rosser read a scripture passage from Galatians Chapter 6 and then explained the motto People are like fire, they take on new life when stirred a bit. Leona Hughes, president, presid- ed for the business meeting. Lorna Priestley and Jean Lee offered to be delegates at the District Annual of Middlesex North Women's Institute at Poplar Hill Baptist Church on May 16. Margaret Wilson is going to the Riverview's History Books to another McGillivray Township Heritage Display. Priestley read the slate of officers for 1991-92: honorary president - Esther Craven; past president - Le- ona Hughes; president - Evelyn McNaughton; secretary - Marg Wilson; treasurer - Jean Lee; dis- trict director - Leona Hughes; branch directors - Marie Campbell, ApriIl7-20 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. Yarn - craft supplies - fabrics - wood citizenship and legislation - Gerirude Rosser, education and cul- tural activities - Ruth McCallum; family and consumer affairs - Mary Sutherland, and international affairs - Jean McKichan. Riverview W.I. will meet again with 4-H members, their leaders and mothers at 7:30 p.m. on May 6 in the Masonic Hall. Caven PCW EXETER - The regular meeting of the Caven Presbyterian Women was held in the church basement on April 8 with 14 members present. Poems and readings form the books written by Helen Steiner Rice and Bob Shrier of Goderich were read. The ladies decided to cater to a banquet at the Recreation Centre on May 22. Jean Gladding spoke to the ladies about the different programs availa- ble from the Town and Country Homemakers. Many new services are available now. A moment of silence was ob- served in memory of a member Ila Moir who recently passed away. Ladies were invited to join the new Bible Study being given at the church on Tuesday evenings. A grocery quiz game was played. Lunch was served by Learn, Har- ness and Webster. Andrew is the graduate of Forest Heights collegiate institute, Kitchener and the University of Waterloo. Brenda is a grad. uate of Rockway Mennonite collegiateinstitute Eastwood collegiate Institute and Wi%rfd -yed with De- loitte and Touche chartered accounts and Brenda by Landfords Inc. of Guelph. We are very proud of you. hurch of God GRAND BEND - Family, friends and neighbours of Pearl Chamber- lain gathered together in the church Sunday School rooms to honour Pearl as she celebrates her 90th birthday, April 16. The 60 people who came out fol- lowing the evening service enjoyed birthday cake, ice cream and good fellowship with Pearl. Pearl came to Grand Bend 32 years ago "tem- porarily" with her husband who came to Grand Bend to build boats.
