"Pin -Ups" go to championships By Ron Dann 08 ZURICH - The Zu- rich 5 Pin Bowlers As- sociation has been ad- vised by the Ontario Five Pin Bowlers As- sociation (O.F.P.B.A.) that the Wednesday night "Pin Ups" ladies team will be competing m the re- gional round of the Black Tower Provincial Teeth Chainpionships Apri1,21 at Petrolie. If the Zurich Association team wins the Black Tower Regional ti- tle it will move on to the Black Tower Provincial Championships May 25 in London. The Bluewater 5 Pin Bowlers As- sociation has announced the Black Tower O.F.P.B.A. Booster Club Championship Bluewater Associa- tion zone rolloffs will be held in two shifts, 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. April 21 at Clinton Crown. lanes. Peewees, bantams bring home gold ELMVALE - Three Exeter mi- nor hockey teams concluded their seasons on the weekend, two of them were successful in winning divisional championships in Elm - vale. While the Atom Broncos wrapped things up in Mildmay, the Peewee Legions and the Ban- tam Legionnaires brought home trophies from Elmvale. In the peewee final, Exeter skat- ed to a 5-3 win over Huntsville. Scoring for the Legions were Chris McDonald and Marty De- Bruyn each with two goals while Jeff Sararas also connected. Exeter held a slim 2-1 lead at the end of the first period and 3-2 atter two Imo. The Legions opened up on Sat- urday with a 3-3 tie against host Elmvale but due to a ruling that said the team with the least penalty minutes wins, were awarded the game Scoring for Exeter were An- drew Hern, Ryan Beckett and McDonald. Hern and McDonald fired two goals each in a 7-4 win against Newmarket. Also connecting were Mike France, Adam Jean and De- Bruyn. Bantams: Gavin Snell scored the winner in overtime as the Bantam Legionnaires edged Peterborough 3-2. Ryan Stuart and Trevor Taylor scored for Exeter in the forst period. Exeter capped their season by winning 12 of their last 13 games. Goalie Darren Kints got the shut- out in game one as the Legion- naires came out on top 6-0. Derek Beckett, Mark Glavin, Steve Farqu- har, Doug Jones, Jason McBride and Trevor Taylor provided the of- fence. Against Kitchener, Glavin had a goal and an assist in a 5-2 win. Also scoring were Sean McCann, McBride, Beckett and Farquhar. Atoms: At the Mildmay touma- ment3 Exeter lost its opener 4-3 to Amherstburg. Jeff MacLean, Luke Sims and David Farquhar scored.
