Atoms beaten in OMHA final
BEAVERTON - A pair of sec-
ond period goals helped host Bea-
verton to a 6-3 doubling over Lu -
can as they captured the Ontario
Minor Hockey Association atom
'DD' championship on Sunday.
Jason Bullock was the big scorer
for Beaverton as he scored four
goals and set up another.
The eventual champions opened
the scoring just 52 seconds into
the game when Daniel DeLong
connected. But Lucan, the defend-
ing OMHA champs, charged back
and went ahead as Chad Greenlee
scored unassisted and then Scott
Thompson teamed with Greenlee
and Ryan Carroll.
But Beaverton tied it up on Ja-
son Downswell's tally. Bullock got
his first to make it 3-2 before
Corey Smith, unassisted got one
back for Lucan. The rest of the
game belonged to Beaverton as
Bullcock got two and DeLong put
the icing on the cake with his sec-
ond.

Game two Saturday in Ereaverton
was the closest of the series as all
five of the game's goals came in the
Midgets split
LUCAN - A strong third period
was the difference here Sunday as
Lucan beat Godfrey 4-2 to take
game two of the six -point Ontario
Minor Hockey Association midget
'DD' series.
Godfrey won the opener and
game three will be played Saturday
in Godfrey at 7 p.m. and then on
Sunday at noon.
In Lucan on Sunday, the home
team scored first when Todd Hyde
teamed with Shane Pfaff and Len-
ny Carter. But Godfrey came back
and went ahead on back-to-back
goals by Brian Hart.
Hyde got his second from Shane
Pfaff to tie it up at the end of the
second period. In the third, Jeremy
Jemec netted the winner from Dane
Pfaff and Hyde while Brian Lewis
scored from Hyde to wrap up his
big four -point game.
Godfrey 4, Lucan 3
Jemec started the scoring for Lu -
can in the second with back-to-
back goals as Paul O'Shea, Shane
Pfaff and Scott Amos scored to
make it 2-0.
Godfrey's Kevin Brown started
the comeback and Paul Byles tied it
up before Jason Triemann could
put the visitors ahead Hyde tied it
up from Shane Pfaff before Matt
Linton got the winner.

things up and then DeLong got
two.
But Lucan charged back and with
two minutes left in the second
frame, Jeremy Cornish scored from
Mau Porter. Carroll scored with
two seconds left in the period from
Thompson and Greenlee.
Beaverton 5, Lucan 2
DeLong couldn't be stopped in
this one as he scored three and as-
sisted on a fourth in Friday's 5-2 se-
ries opener win in Lucan.
Bullock gave Beaverton a 1-0 be-
fore Thomspon.could tie it up. The
visitors took a commanding two
goal lead as Bullock got his second
and DeLong also scored.
Carroll scored for Lucan from
Greenlee and Thomspon while De -
Long got a pair for Beaverton in
the second period.
Final Bantam series tied
STROUD - Withjust 3:15 lest in
the overtime period Rob Paul net-
ted his second goal of the Mune to
give Lucan a 4-3 win over host
Stroud on Sunday in game two of
the Ontario Minor Hockey Associ-
ation bantam DD' championship.
Stroud won the opener on Friday
and the six -point series will return
to Lucan on Friday at 9 p.m. and
back to Stroud on Sunday after-
noonat2p.m.
Following a 2-2 regulation tie on
Sunday both teams scored in the.
overtime before Paul notched the
winner.
Lucan's Brian Heckman opened
the scoring from Steve Dame and
Doug Hotson before Stroud's Sean
Payne could tie it up. Stroud went
up by a goal as Mike Temple
rounded out the second period scor-
ing.
The only scoring in the third peri-
od was when Jason Hodgson
teamed with Chris Haskett. In over-
time Paul scored from Shaun Fair-
weather and Brian Heckman but
Payne's second tied it in overtime.
Paul's winner was set up by Fair-
weather and Sean Lawrence.
Stroud 4, Lucan 2
The series began Friday after-
noon in Lucan and Stroud took a
big four goal lead on tallies from
Matt Quance, Andrew Cole, John
Primayera and Duayn Anile.
Lucan got going a little too late
with a goal by Paul from Fair-
weather late in the second and
Heckman scored from Paul in the
third.
