OMMRI funds LuCan Blue Box program
LUCAN - Lucan residents have
received their household Blue Box-

Financial support for the program
has come from a coalition of Onta-

EXETER - Only one serious traf-
fic accident was reported by the Ex-

Wednesday morning, a cat and a
pickup truck driven by Norm At-

Lobb of Clinton collided at the in-

There were no injuries reported,
but damage was described as mod-
erate to both vehicles.
Last Wednesday, a vehicle driven
by William Talbot of RRI Zurich
struck one of four deer crossing
Concession 2-3 in Hay Township.
Damage to the vehicle was minor,
say police, but the deer was killed.
Police are also thanking Ian Chis-
holm of London for helping to lo-
cate the owners of a dog his vehicle
struck and killed on Highway 4

New county care prograjn
GODERICH - The Ministry of
Community and Social Services
has approved Attendant Care Ser-
vices for the handicapped Huron
County.
Thursday afternoon during the
report of the Board of Health at
county council, Dr. Maarten Bok-
hout said the program is new to
the county.
"For one reason or another, Hu-
ron County has never had this ser-
vice. It's something which has
Aggl
been available to other counties. It's
an extensive expenditure from their
(ministry's) point of view," said
Bokhout.
This program will be adminis-
tered by Cheshire Homes of Lon-
don. The amount allocated to the
program is $110,000, and it will be-
gin as soon as a part-time manager
can be hired.
Karen Lehnen, assistant home
care director for. Huron County,
said the Attendant Care program is
a one-on-one type of care primarily
for physically handicapped.
"It helps them with daily activi-
ties. It includes personal care, phys-
ical care and assistance with essen-
tial communication," said Lehnen.
She said the handicapped have
depended on informal caregivers,
such as family members, in the past
and this will give the families addi-
tional help.
