Optimist Club
The Zurich Optimist Club hosted
the district dinner meeting Wednes-
day at the Hay Township Hall with
about 50 members attending. The
members were serval a dinner pre-
pared by Donna Klopp and volun-
teers.
Senior Diners
A large number of diners turned
out for dinner Wednesday evening
at the Zurich Community Centre.
Tammy Antaya welcomed the
guests and after opening exercises,
told some humorous jokes. Gwen
McKcller read p poem as did Gertie
Fleischaucr. Gerry Kane won the
door prize and afterwards the din-

GRAND BEND - Eleven ladies
attended Bible study at Sauble
Court lounge Tuesday. Jan Kobe
led our hymn sing.
With Annabelle Walz as discus-
sion leader, we studied James 1: 5-
18 in our new book, "Faith in Ac-
tion", from the New Testament.
We noted God listens to us when
we pray. When we re'id our Bible,
God gives us faith to believe His
word is true.
Doris Peebles gave closing
prayer.
On Palm Sunday at Grand Bend
United Church, the Sacrament of
Communion was observed.
Pastor Colin Stover's sermon top-
ic was "Going in glory, Jesus style"
with scriptures read from Mark 11:
1-11 and Philippians 2: 5-11, by

Stanley Township gets volunteer
for minor ball coordination

VARNA - The Vama-Goshen
Congregation along with members
of Huron -Perth Presbytery gathered
at the Goshen Church Sunday eve-
ning for the Convenanting Service
for Rev. George Philips. The Pre-
sider was Rev. Peter McKellar and
the message was given by Rev.
Tweddle. The chairperson of Pres-
bytery was Muriel Coultes. Repre-
sentative of Presbytery was Rev.
Bill Jones.

ZURICH - Our residents enjoyed
a delicious fowl dinner on Sunday,
thanks to Catherine and Gerald
Shantz who donated the geese for
the meal.
Several of our readers have in-
quired as to the date that Geri Fash-
ions will be at the Home to display
their latest fashions for both men
and ladies in both ordinary and
adaptable clothing. The date has
been set for Tuesday, April 16,
1991 form 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
In answer to many inquiries, the
official opening of the new addition
to the Home will take place on Sun-
day, May 5 at 2:00 p.m. Further an-
nouncements will be made at a later
date.
George Grenier is presently a pa-
tient in St. Joseph's Hospital. Resi-
dents are busy in the Hobby Shop
trying to complete thejr Easter or-
ders. Everyone here at the Home
extends a Happy Easter to all of our
readers.
Bingo was played on Friday eve-
ning followed by refreshments. ,
The Sunday evening chapel ser-
vice was conducted by Rev. Ste--
pheli Alles of St. Peter's Lutheran
Church, Zurich.

Following the Convenanting Ac-
tion several members of the two
churches welcomed Rev. George
Philips and his wife Olive into the
charge. Other greetings were made
over a social hour.
Good Friday Service is in Goshen
Church at 11 a.m. on Friday, March
29.
Sunday, March 31, regular Easter
Services will be held in both Varna
and Goshen Churches.
The Trends Youth Group will
meet Thursday, march 28 at 7 p.m.
in Brucefield.
Marg and Ivan McClymont will
be guest speakers at the Stan Lee
Meeting held Tuesday, April 2 at
the Complex.
Sandy Hayter has kindly volun-
teered to be the Ball -Co-ordinator
for Stanley Township. This is a
very difficult position so here's
hoping everyone will give Sandy
their full co-operation. Bali regis-
tration will be held Saturday, April
6 and April 13 from 9 a.m. to 1 at
the complex.
The Rec. Committee are making
final plans for the Canoe Rally on
April 7 and 'the Fiddler's Jamboree
April 14.
