Little Hawks
finalists at
tyke tournament
EXETER - For the second
straight weekend the Exeter Little
Hawks have made k to the cham-
pionship game of a tyke hockey
tournament.
Two weeks ago, they were beat-
en 11-3 by Strathroy Sports at the
Parkhill Tournament. Saturday in
Exeter, the Little Hawks once
again made it to the finals against
the same team, this time the score
was just 4-1 for Strathroy.
The eight team tournament held
Saturday at the South Huron Rec-
tion Centre, saw . the Little
Hawks play three games in one
day and backed by the sharp goal-
tending of Tim Snell, held off an
offensively strong opposition.
Exeter forward Kevin Overholt
had several good chances through --
Jut the contest and teamed with
Scott Ralph for the opening goal
of the game.
But Strathroy netminder Brad
Topping shut the door and didn't
give up any goals in the second or
third periods. For the winners,
Good sports - The Exeter Little Hawks, along with coach Dan Overholt gave a cheer for one of the op-
posing teams In Saturday's tournament.
Dave Rosser, Adam McHenry, Jake
Stubbs and Basil Martin scored.
In the 'B' championship game,
Thedford beat Lucan Green 7-1.
The score was tied 1-1 after the
first period as Michael Ankers
scored for Lucan with Michael
Mitchell assisting. For Thedford,
Tim McKinlay and Josta Cole had
two goals each with singles to Tom
Wilsie, Billy Boris and Jamie Za-
vitz.
Exeter 7, Lucan Green 6
In the opening game of the tour-
nanient, Matthew Dietrich led the
Exeter offence with five goals
while Kevin Overholt and Scott
Ralph also connected.
Scoring for Lucan Green were
Nick Hosking with five tallies and
Michael Ankers netted the other
Exeter 9, Lucan White 4
Matthew Dietrich was unstoppa-
ble for the Little Hawksas he
scored six goals while Scott Ralph
and Kevin Overholt also scored.
For Lucan, Pat Maguire had three
goals and Craig Galbraith connect-
ed.
Lucan White 7, Zurich 3
Craig Galbraith was the big gun
in this one as he netted three tallies
for Lucan while Donald Park had
two goals. Also scoring were Don-
ald Park, Scou Riddell and Thomas
Mills. For Zurich, Nathan Regier
had two goals and Michael Groot
got the other.
Lucan Green 6, Zuyrich 3
A balanced scoring attack for Lu -
can saw David Fleming, 'Michael
Bancroft and Nick Hosking all
score two goals each. Nathan Regi-
er got a pair for Zurich and Craig
Eckel also scored.

PT. STANLEY - For the second
straight year, the Exeter Legion-
naire bantams have won the Port
Stanley Kanaglo hockey tourna-
ment.
On Saturday, Sean McCann
scored three goals as the Legion-
naires beat Tilbury 9-3. Also scor-
ing for the winners were Mark
Glavin and Ryan Stuart with two
each while Steve Farquhar and
Doug Jones added singles.
Trevor Taylor had three assists,
Farquhar, Jason McBride and Ga-
vin Snell had two assists each
while Stuart and Jim Dietrich also
assisted.
McCann was named the final
game's MVP while Dietrich was
the most sportsmanlike and T►lor
was the most improved.
Game Three
Exeter reached the final follow-
ing a 7-1 win over Clearwater.
While goalie Darren Kints shone
awe again between the pipes,
Maui had a goal and an assist.
Abo acorirtg were Taylor, Stuart,
Farquhar, Mark Glavin and Paddy
Morrissey. Ben Armstrong had two
Game Two
Derek Beckett led the way with
two goals in a 4-0 shutout against
London. Mark Glavin and McCann
also scored while Kints got his first
of two shutouts.
Game One
Exeter started the tournament
with a 2-0 win last Monday against
Delhi. Jones and Taylor each
scored while Kints got the shutout.
