Travelling quilt on
display at Zurich
Lutheran Church
ZURICH - St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Zurich, is the host of a
'travelling' quilt for the month of March. It is hanging on display in
the new pansh hall.
A year o, the Evangelical Lutheran Women of each congrega-
tion in the London Conference was sent a rectangular quilt block in
which to design and embroider, liquid embroider, or applique a pat-
tern tot their home church. Lloyd Otterbein designed the
block for St. ELW and Veola Wood embroidered it. Pictured
is the church building surrounded by pictures depicting our farming
community near Lake Huron.
At the spring convention held in Leamington last April, 11 of the
congregations responded to the roll call with the completed quilt
blocks. The president of the London Conference ELW, Mary Whyte
of Trinity Lutheran Church of London, assembled the blocks, added
the title 'Reaching Out With Love', and then proceeded to quilt it.
The next quesuon was what to do with the completed product. At
the ELW fall conference held at Trinity, London, the suggestion was
made to have the quilt 'travel' from congregation to congregation
(geographically) - each one to display it for a period of approximate-
ly one month. The London Conference extends from Windsor in the
South to Milverton in the North and Woodstock in the East. The fi-
nal 'destination' of this quilt has yet to be determined.

several other churches helped create.
