Farm Supply sells a line of tractors in the most popu- lar sizes and power categories says partner Rick Gingerich. C.G. Farm Supply says tractor sales on the increase If there's a recession on, the guys at C.G. Farm Supply in Zurich haven't heard much about it in the past few weeks. Tractors have been selling well, very well in fact. ' "January has just been a supe month for us," said Rick Ginge- rich, one of the four partners at C. . Farm Supply. The dealer sells White New Ide , Case construction equipment, and Zetor tractors and local farme s seem encouraged by the possi- bility of better profits under the G IP and NISA plans and are ready to invest in the new equipment th have Wanted for some time. Gingerich also says planters ha been selling well, with farmers either buying to replace worn out dels or to convert to conserva- tion tillage methods. "Soil savers and chisel plows are definitely selling better," said Gingerich. The Zetor tractors are a Czechoslovakian line that has affordabili- ty as its strong point. Nevertheless, in the five years C.G. Farm Supply has been carrying them, the Zetor range of 50-145 hp trac- tors raytors have also proven quite reliable. White New Idea has tractors in the 60-190 hp range, but Ginge- rich notes the most demand among local farmers is for machines between 100 and 130 hp. C.G. Farm Supply also handles a line of Yard Man and Ingersoll lawn and garden equipment. Lakeshore cottagers aiming to reduce the amount of yardwork they do on weekends away are finding that buying a riding mower makes sense and buying it close to where it can be serviced makes even more sense. C.G. Farm Supply has five people in its service department, mak- ing it one of the largest parts of the business especially since farm- ers are keeping their equipment running as long as possible to max- imize their returns on !the investment. Dealer servicing is also necessary for handling the increasing amount of electronics found in newer tractors to make farming more precise, such as radar or wheel slip indicators. "We service any brand of tractor," said Gingerich. "I'd say our service department is one of the best in the area." A well -stocked parts department is also a necessity for farmers getting their equipment in shape for spring planting and C.G. Farm Supply believes it has enough parts to meet the needs of anyone. On February 26 C.G. Farm Supply is hosting a free planting clinic and lubrication seminar at the Zurich Arena. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. and is open to anyone interested in hearing a representative from White Farm Equipment speak on new planting techniques and a representative from Case discuss the uses of different types of oils and greases for farm equipment.
