Barbara Wheeldon and Shirley Platt were just two of the characters on the stage claimed not to resemble anybody living or dead. Nevertheless, some of the audience quickly found cause to compare some well-known Bend residents with who was on stage. Snowbird golf - Few teams were out Saturday for the Snowbird golf tournament at Oakwood Inn, but by, the end of the Winter Camival more than 100 players are expected to hive played the nine holes with the tennis ball, alternating shots with their partners. Bill Payne of Minden was the M. The win- ners of the "Kid and Mutt race" were: first, Sarah Gilchrist, second, Leanne Piper, third Ila Gilchrist and fourth, local lad Mikey Gutscll. For the 4 -dog team competition, the winners were: Bruce McNeill getting the first place trophy, a cheque and dog food. Se and through sixth winners woi a cheque, placard and dog food: sec- ond Matt Ile from Alliance, Ohio; third Lee Gilchrist; fourth, Doug McNeill, fifth Ja.son Ile from Alli- ance, Ohio; and sixth Susan Gil- christ. The Gilchrist family comes from around Lake Simcoe. All competitors went home with a cheque, and the first fourteen got dog food as well. Nearly 80 kids jammed into the place to cheer on the competitors, and most got a winter carnival grab bag of treats, before they ran out. Winners in the 5 to 7 year old category were MacKenzie Siren and Jenna McIn- tyre taking first place for a capella solo, They won a $25.00 gift certif- icate from Purple Turtle, an award plaque and music tapes. Second place Natalie Vandeburght sang "Let the Sun Shine In" and took home more music tapes to enjoy. In the 8 to 10 year category, Let- tisha Fairbaim danced her way to first place, winning the $25 gift cer- tificate award, plaque and a Mini Dunk from Leisure Time Sports. Emily Miller sang "My Guy" for second prize, a Ninja Turtle pen- nant. In the 11 to 13 years category, Patrick Lerebeki left them howling with his comedy skit, taking home the first award plaque, $25 gift cer- tificate and a Winter Camival sweatshirt. Jessica Sywck and Shannon Kyle took home Winter Carnival sweatshirts for their rap/ gymnastics routine.
