Legion helps clean up for Carnival

GRAND BEND - Congratula-
tions to a pair of grandparents,
Comrades Ellweyn and Evelyn
Gowing, on the safe arrival of a
grandson, Christian Longpre, born
January 29 et Moncton General
Hospital in New Brunswick.
Comrades Marg Hedley and our
PRO officer Shirley Pole attended
the Ladies Auxiliary meeting at the
Exeter Legion #167 last Monday
evening. Guest speaker was Rober-
ta Walker, Board member from
Community Living, South Huron,
who spoke about the newly estab-
lished Huron Resource Library.
This new library is meant to serve
as a resource of information on
mental and physical handicaps for
the people of Huron County, locat-
ed at the Women Today House in
Clinton.
Walker thanked the Auxiliary for
their donation, which will *o to-
ward
oward the purchase of additional
books and tapes, to enlarge collec-
tion.
At Tuesday night darts, Velda
Clark and Dick McLeod won First
Place Team, with Fran McDowell
and Gerry Karn taking second.
High scores were reached by Rick
Richard with 140 and Paula Cormi-
er with 134. Jim O'Neil got a take-
out of 113 and Ron Crown had a
take out of a Bullseye with 70 -what
a hawk eye!
Winners of the Friday Meat Raf-
(le were Larry Baynham, Marion
McLeod, Brad Baynham, Art
Chambers, Frank Allen. and Mys-
tery prize winner Jean Ellison.
A big "Thank You" goes to all
those Comrades who helped on a
giant Saturday clean-up, preparing
for the Winter Carnival activities.

stage and everything looks great,

Carnival needs snow

Several ladies from Grand Bend, including Bade Keyes, Elda Ad-
ams, Irene Kennedy, Iva Latta, Verna Lovie and Loreen Gill, paid a
surprise visit to Hugh and Annie Moroni last Friday morning, the
day of their 50th Wedding Anniversary They r presented the United
Church Women and the Golden Age Club. Hiring the visit, a lovely
gloxinia plant was delivered from the florist compliments of the
Grand Bend Golden Age Club.

A new 4-H Club course will be offered to local youngsters in the
next few weeks, titled "Fitness and Health the 4-H Way". Boys and
girls, ages 10 to 21 are welcome to attend. Anyone interested in this
important topic of personal health and fitness should call Bonnie
Hotson 238-2140 or Donna Lovie 238-8395 to register for the pro-
gram
