Writer is stressed over post office
Dear Editor:
If frustration leads to stress, then
there should be a number of
stressed people in Crediton east
thanks to Canada Post.
In today's world of sophisticated
communication systems and high
priced decision -makers, it frus-
trates me beyond limits to be a
victim of Canada Post's waffling
and lack of concrete communica-
tions with those affected.
Nearly sixteen years ago, as a
new resident of Crediton, I was
denied rural mail service. For six-
teen years, I collected mail at
Jackson's and then the Post Office
in Crediton, as of February 5, who
knows?
By adding some twenty new rural
boxes to the fourteen presently in
service are we not cluttering further
the north side of the road? Are we
not providing more inevitable tar -
!gets for the snowplow? Are we not
incurring greater personal•
costs in the form
of boxes, poles
and holes? Are
we not increasing
the chances of van-
dalism, mail tamper-
ing, weathered mail
and undesired nesting sites?
If you take the time to calculate
the change -of -address notices nec-
essary for fluid continuation of ser-
vices, it will stagger you. It would
be nice to know, in writing exactly,
what my new address will be and
how the bill collectors can get in
touch with me!
There are always wrinkles in any
new shirt. I hope that Canada Post
heats the iron soon and officially
tells us their intentions for our con-
tinued postal service, maybe with
the system wrinkles gone, the ones
in my forehead will start to go too.
Sincerely,
Drew Robertson

HOLMESVILLE - Experience
the music of Scotland by driving to
Holmesville (minutes from Clin-
ton) and enjoying a Ceilidh hosted
by the Blyth Festival Singers on
Saturday, February 9, 1991 at 8:00
p.m.
"There will be dancing, stories
from Scotland, the gentle music of
a harp, a celebration of song and
lots of surprises", says Mary Heam,
organizer of the special event. "A
Ceilidh (pronounced "kay-lee"), is
the gaelic word for a social gather-
ing or as some natives say, 'a hell
of a time with a devil of a bunch.'
We'll teach you how the "Gay Gor-
don" is really danced. For those
who have never tried the Scottish
delicacy, "haggis", this is your
chance as the choir ushers in the
haggis in a special ceremony."
This fun -filled variety night fea-
tures the talents of the Blyth Festi-
val Singers, a 40 -voice choir that is
drawn from Belgrave, Delmore,
Blyth, Brussels, Clinton, Exeter,
Goderich, Lucknow, Seaforth,
Stratford and Wingham. A ,buffet
dinner following the concert is pro-
vided in the ticket price of $12.00
($14.00 at the door). But besides
haggis, there's Lots of food after the
show for everyone. Last year's Cei-
lidh audience will remember the
plentiful jokes of host Rob Bundy,
the bagpipe sounds of Glenn
McGregor, and country dancing for
everyone.
Let the songs and aires of Scot-
land carry you away. The Blyth
Festival Singers presents a Scottish
evening song and dance on Satur-
day, February 9, 1991 at 8:00 p.m.
at Goderich Township Hall in
Holmesville. Licensed under a spe-
cial occasions permit. Tickets
$12.00 (advance) and $14.00 (at
the door). For more information
and tickets, call the Blyth Festival
Box Office at (519) 523-9300.
