ton.

Provincial Court
Grand Bend man jailed
EXETER - A series of offenses
including three failures to appear
in court netted Todd A. Comies
a.k.a. Todd A. Torresan of Grand
Bend, an eight and a half month
jail -term at Provincial "Court,.
Tuesday.
Police said Cornies voluntarily
turned himself into the Exeter
OPP after evading sentencing for a
number of charges dating back to
1987.
Cornies faced sentencing on
three theft charges all under
$1,000. The thefts took place over
a three -daytime span from Janu-
ary 29-31 at a video rental store in
St. Catharines. He also faced three
failure to appear in court charges
dating back to January, 1989.
Comies was also sentenced on an-
other incident which took place on
September 9/89 wherein Comies
impersonated Todd Johns to avoid
arrest in Hay Township on an out-
standing warrant. Cornies was also
sentenced for a break and enter
charge which Took place at a high':
school int Niagara Falls in Decem-
ber/88.
Cdrnies pleaded guilty Oto all of
the charges.
The dgfence told the court, Corn-
ies had changed his attitude over
the last year and that he had stayed
out of trouble. The defence also
produced a letter of praise from
Cornies' work supervisor stating
Comies' job was secure. •
The Crown pointed out Comies
prior record included an aggravat-
ed assault charge in the -City of
Windsor in 1986.
Judge Hunter gave Cornies a
one month jail -term on each theft
charge; a one month sentence on
the impersonation charge consecu-
tive; 15 days on each failure to ap-
pear charge consecutive, totalling
a jail -term of eight months and 15
days.
Jail -term
A 30 -day jait4erm to be served
intermittently was handed down to
William C. Christie of 9 Columbia
Cresc., Huron Park.
Police said on June 29, they spot-
ted a vehicle weaving on Highway
83 in Usborne Township.
Christie wag taken to the station
for breathalyzer tests which re-
vealed counts of 300 mg and 280
mg.
Christie was found guilty of a
similar charge in 1987.
The counsels made a joint -
submission of a 30 day jail -term to '
be served from Saturday at 9 a.m.
to Sunday at 6 p.m.
Impaired driving
An impaired driving charge and'
operating a vehicle while disquali-
fied resulted in a 90 jail -term with a
two-year driving prohibition for
James W. Jesney of 165 Columbia
Drive, Huron Park.
On November 3, on County Rd.
21.. in Stephen Township , police
said they spotted Jesney's vehicle
being driven erratically.
Police said two breathalyzer tests
revealed counts of 190 mg and 200
mg.
Police also informed the court
Jesney was driving while disquali-•
feed due to a September conviction
on a similar offense.
The defence told the court Jesney
had missed his ride that night and
he was only "six to eight blocks
from home:
The defence also told the court
Jesney has haft no alcoholic bever-
ages since the incident.
Trespassing
Trespassing netted Robert Clip-
perton of 6-176 Sanders St. E., Ex-
eter, a $78.75 fine with 60 days t4
pay.

ber 28, police found Clipperton par-
