Kirkton library
gets praise
'-USBORNE TOWNSHIP - Us -
borne township reeve Gerald Prout
reported to council at the'December
19 meeting that Huron County
chief librarian Beth Ross was very
pleased with the operation of the
Kirkton library.
Prout went on to say that Kirk -
ton was reported as being the most
active branch library in the county.
The Kiikton-Woodham Optimists
have provided the library with a
computer.
Road superintendent Ken Parker
presented council with a five year
capital program for road department
expenditures.
Parker also discussed with coun-
cil estimates for both tar and chip-
ping and asphalt topping or paved
roadways in the township. He was
asked to invite Cord Lavis of Lavis
Construction to attend the January
16, 1990 meeting of council.
Council was advised that the
Ausable Bayfield- Conservation
Authority office will be closed be-
tween Christmas and New Year's
days.
As council prefer the township
office be open from December 27
to 29, only the side door marked
"staff entrance" will be open.
The Exeter Minor Hockey Asso-
ciation will be informed that the
municipality is unable to provide a
portion fo the recreation grant to
that organization.
Council supported a resolution
from the township of Bathurst
which asks the Ministry of the En-
vironment to take more initiatives
to support recycling efforts by mu-
nicipalities.
No objection was voiced to a
zoning bylaw change in Hay town-
ship at part of Lot 6, Concession
1 from general agriculture to agri-
cultural small holding to recognize
the existing residence on the sub-
jcct property.

The Ladies' Bowling league held

Each team was given a hidden
score which . enabled a person to
win a bottle of wine.
The draw was also held that

Family Christmas
Some of the large families that I
know about who celebrated Christ-
mas together at their homes on
Monday, December 25 were Clare
and Lucille Masse, Louis and Ce-
cilia Farwell, Mozart and Mane
Gelinas Sr., Willie and Martha
Overholt, Herb and Donna Klopp,
and Matthew and Mary -Lou De-
nomme.
The family of Tony and Adeline
Denomme held their family Christ-
mas dinner at the Zurich arena on
Monday.
T.:osc celebrating on Boxing Day
(Tuesday) were the families of Earl
and Anne Flaxbard, and Clem and
Theresa Regicr.
Philip and Linda Ingoldsby and
boys spent Christmas in Toronto
with his family. -
Mrs. Jean Tyre of Winnipeg is .
spending the holiday season with
her daughter Joy and Jim Hogg and
family at St. Joseph.
Melissa Beer and two children of
Orleans (Ottawa) are spending
Christmas and New Year's with her
parents Mozart and Marie Gelinas
Sr. and all her brothers and sisters
and their families.
Congratulations to Mark and
Debbie Regier on the arrival of
Christopher Clement on December
19.
Wayne and Helen Horner of St.
Paul's, Alberta, along with children
Cameron and Shelley spent a week
during the Christmas season with
their parents Harold and Ora Horn-
er and Russell and Elizabeth
Grainger and relatives in the area.
Once again midnight Mass at St.
Boniface Church was very inspir-
ing and the true meaning of Christ-
mas when Christ was born was felt
by all those present.
Fr. Hayes had the church beauti-
fully decorated for the occasion
with a lovely large "Christmas Gift
Tree" that had decorations made by
the school children with their wish
for the world written on each one.
The folk choir sang many beauti-
ful Christmas hymns and carols
which filled our hearts with love,
joy and peace.
The week between Christmas and
New Year's Fr. Peter Haycs spent
the holidays with his parents and
relatives in Windsor having a well
deserved rest.
Happy birthday wishes on Tues-
day, December 26 are extended to
