EXETER - The Exeter Novice
Flyers turned back Mt. Brydges 2-
o Sunday but lost 3-1 to their town
rivals the Bombers at the South
Huron Rec Centre Saturday.
Steve Rasenberg opened the
scoring for Exeter, at 5:16 of the
second, from Jason Miles.
It stayed that way until Robert
DeVries found the empty net for
Exeter, from Steven Krammer and
Steve Farquhar with just three sec-
ond left to play.
Michael DeYoung recorded his
first shutout of the year.,
Tyler Taylor of the Bombers
proved too much for the Flyers to
handle as he scored all three goal to
win the game.
Tyler scored twice in tile second
period once - unassisted and one
from Matthew Rowe, while notch-
ing his hat trick in the third, unas-
sisted.
Peter Fragiskatos had the only
Bomber goal, from Krammer and
Farquhar.
The Bombers stay undefeated an
move to 8-0-3 on the, while with
the win Sunday, the Flyers improve
to 2-10-1.
The players and families of the

Panthers get one league win

EXETER - Last week South Hu-
ron District High School's boys'
basketball teams were busy with
one league game against the Gode-
rich Vikings and exhibition con-
tests against St. Marys and Mitch-
ell.
• The Junior Panthers claimed a
win against Goderich while the
Flames
win twice
CLINTON - The Stephen Town-
ship Pee Wee Flames won a pair
of games last week. Thursday
night, they defeated Exeter Bullets
6-3 in an exhibition game and beat
Clinton 5-3, in Clinton Saturday.
Against Exeter, the Flames led
2-0 after one period of play. Craig
Glavin opened the scoring from
Chris Regier and Ken DesJardine
also found the net, from Glavin
and Bill Hodge.
Glavin netted one from Hodge
and Regier scored from Bill Con-
nor to make it a 4-0 game after the
second period.
Exeter got on the board in the
third when they slipped in three.

However Stephen added two
more in the third to complete the

went to work and tied the game

Clinton then took a 3-2 lead, but
Craig Glavin scored two goals for
the Flames bcfore the end of the
second period and then never
looked back.

goal in the third period, from
Craig Glavin and Brent Gibson.

stay in a hotel for their players but
told the Mohawks they would par=
ticipate before leaving the Rec cen-
tre Sunday night.
The Ingersoll B's made their first
visit of the season to the South Hu-
ron Rec centre last night, Tuesday
to take on the Mohawks.
Friday dight, the Mohawks will
make another visit to Dorchester to
play the Dolphins at 8:30 p.m. be-
fore starting thcir Christmas break.

ed most of the offense as each
scored three goals. Ahrens added
five assists for an eight -point night,
while Moore and McDonald each
contributed two assists.

Senior and Midget teams lost close
matches.
The Junior boys held a slight 19-
15 lead after the first half of play
but they came alive in the third
quarter. and continued to play well
to take the 38-22 win from the Vi-
kings.
Randy Johnson played well for
the Panthers scoring 19 points. Ja-
son Heywood and Josh Masse add-
ed six points a piece.
The Midget Panthers played a
tough game against their oppo-
nents. After taking a 27-22 lead at
half-time, the Vikings played a
strong third quarter to take the lead
for good. Following a close final
quarter, the Panthers found them-
selves on the short end of a 48-43
count.,
An exciting overtime game for
the senior Panthers ended in an ex-
tremely. disappointing 33-32 loss.
The boys held a tight lead
throughout the game but the Vi-
kings persisted to bring the game to
a tic by the end of regulation time.
In overtime, SH put forth a great
effort but . Goderich managed to
hold the one -point lead at the buzz-
er.
Tim McAllister was top scorer
for SH with 13 points. Ian Verbeek
followed with six and Rob Pearen
had five. .
In exhibition games against
Mitchell, SH's Senior boys easily
defeated the Blue Devils 58-29 but
the Midget Panthers took a tough
38-36 loss.
Mitchell managed to hold the
Senior Panthers to within a 23-18
count at half time, but SH took off
in the second half, and won handily
58-29.
Rob Wonnacott led the Panthers
with 21 points while Verbeck came
through with 18 and Chad Miller
added seven.
The Midgets were down 19-16 at
half time in their game against
• Bob Jones and Brian Hodgins add-
ed single assists.
Glen Stire got his second shut out
of the year in goal.
This week they host the Sarnia
Old Oilers on Monday while Thurs-
day they travel to Strathroy to play
the Old Royals.

fourth quarter almost lost the Pan-
thers the game, but a St. Marys
comeback came too late and the
Panthers took a 36-22 win.
Mark Russell, Mike Kingma and
Randy Johnson had six points each.
