Christmas Morning
By Holly Steinmann
Zurich Public School
One Christmas morning my sis-
ter and I woke up early and ran.
downstairs to open our presents.
As I opened them one by one 1
checked them off of my list of
things I wanted.
When 1 was done opening my
presents, there was something on
my list that 1 hadn't checked off. I
looked through the pile of gift
wrap but it wasn't there. My big
blue eyes filled with tears as my
sister, Sandy, held me close. She
knew how I felt because a few
years ago this happened to her.
Sandy started to tell me the same
story mom told her. The story be-
gan with •the reason why we have
Christmas. If you don't know why
we have Christmas, it's because Je-
sus was born. Moreover, the story
said that if Jesus was bom. Moreo-
ver, the story said that if Jesus was.
born it should -be his birthday and
we shouldn't be getting any
presents.
Boy, did that ever make me
think! Suddenly I didn't care if I had
got that present or not and I felt
foolish for being selfish! From that
Christmas on I was never selfish
again!

Mary's gone to Bethlehem,
Joseph by her side.
On a little donkey dear,
Slowly they do ride.
As they get to Bcthlchcm
No room for them to stay
But in the stable warm and dry,
They have no more dismay.. -
There they had the Christ Child.
They laid him in some hay.
And this is where we get the

Happy Birthday was sung to
Yvonne Reynolds whose birthday
was the next day.
John Kinsman was elected to re-
moved a gum wrapper, blindfolded
and with oven mitts on his hands.
He did very well.
Grace Drummond then proved to
us the magic of numbers, when
some addition and multiplication
we each ended up with our birth
date. Yvonne Reynolds won a prize
for the most lace on her slip. Grace
Drummond and Margaret Hoggarth
performed a skit called "The Upper
Berth".
Our guest speaker, Don Reynolds
expounded on his topic "My career
in the Canadian Armed Forces".
Lon enjoyed,an interesting time in
his services at postings.. He was
thanked by Thea Wisch. Helen
MacLean gave courtesy remarks.
We meet again on January 10.
Members please note date and place
will be Hoggarth's in Exeter, when
a Huron County Junior Farmer,
Paul Hoggarth, will be telling of
his trip out west in July of 1989.
Remember those 10 small words
that make a Big difference. If it is
to be it is up to me.
Merry Christmas
By Tina Dayman
Hensall PS
Have a merry, merry Christmas
And watch the children play
Then gather up your Christmas
presents
To put in Santa's sleigh
When the time Was right
Santa came to fill us with delight
Then I ran downstairs to see
What Santa Claus brought to me
Have a merry, merry Christmas
And watch the children play
Then gather up your Christmas
presents
To put in Santa's sleigh.
