St. Boniface Christmas program
Christmas singing - The St. Boniface Folk Choir sang for a Christmas performance Sunday afternoon at
St. Boniface School in Zurich. The Youth Group also performed a one -act play. Proceeds from the show
went towards the St. Boniface Building Fund.
Bashing
"El Taco"
The students of Spanish at
South Huron District High
School celebrated Christmas
with a Spanish flavour on
Thursday. The program
included singing Christmas
carols in Spanish,
appropriate snacks, and, of
course, taking a swing at a
pinata. Chrystal Jones of
the grade 12 class zeros in
on one candy -stuffed pinata
dubbed "El Taco".

ZURICH• - The St. Boniface folk
choir presented a Christmas pro-
gram in St. Boniface School on
Sunday afternoon under the direc-
ton of Theresa VanRaay. The mu-
sic had no trouble getting everyone
in the Christmas spirit. The youth
group put on a play called "Otto's
Christmas Shop'. Proceeds from
the event went to the church build-
ing fund.
Elimination draw
The winners of the two $1,000
St. Boniface Building Fund elimi-
nation draw prizes at the arena on
Friday were Phil Overholt, and a
split among Ralph, Peggy, and Ber-
nard Mathonia.
Winners of $500 were Mozart
Gelinas Sr., Elmer Feeney of Dub-
lin, Ted and Jean Geoffrey, Gerry
and Debbie Pennings, and Case
VanRaay. Prizes of $150 went to
Armond Cyr of Ajax, Bob John-
ston, Clem Regier, Anita Ben-
gough of Hensall, Paul Parsons of
Grand Bend, Kim McKinnon,
Steve Miller, Ken Mittleholtz, and
E&S Cote of Winds
Everyone a joyed the eve-
ning's smorgasboard, with meat
donated by Joe Kaak of Mt. Car-
mel, and dance.
The evening was so successful
that estimates say about $15,000
will be going toward the building
fund.
Brownies
The Zurich Brownies and their
leaders, along with some Moms,
went Christmas carolling on Tues-
day and enjoyed a hay ride. They
paid a visit to the Blue Water Rest
Home and sang for the residents.
The Brownies meet again January
9.
Santa
Santa will be at the Zurich arena
on Saturday for his annual visit to
the children. There will be mo-
vies, chocolate milk, and treatsgfor
everyone. The program runs from
1-3 p.m.
Personals •
Sincere sympathy goes out to the
family of the late Marie Durand,
who passed away on Thursday,
and to the family of Agnes Regier,
who passed away Friday.
The village welcomes back Da-
-vid Gingerich• who has returned
from damp, cold ail(' rainy Scot-
land to Zurich last 'week. Ho was
in Glasgow for six months on a
work term. David spent the last.
two weeks in Scotland with his
friend Darrel Gingerich before
they returned home together.
Two babies wcrc baptised at St.
Boniface Church on Sunday:
Stephanie Dietrich and Daniel
Hartman were both made members
of the church by Fr. Peter Hayes.
