Nadene Be- dell read the lessons. Rev. Wheeler spoke on a vision she had, when planning and worrying about all she had to do before Christ's birth- day, and a voice spoke to her saying "Don't try so hard." Service next Sunday is planned for 6:30 p.m. Many of us attended the seniors' Christmas dinner, served by the la- dies of the Lucan Legion. The meal was delicious, and included all the festive goodies. Mrs. Mabel Needham, Mrs. Mer- na O'Neil, Mrs. Greta Gibson, Mrs. Muriel Cobleigh and Mary Davis enjoyed a Christmas dinner on Sat- urday and later spent the evening with Muria! at her home. 1 am sorry to report that Clarence Davis is a patient in South Huron Hospital, Exeter. Best wishes for a speedy recovery Clarence. Misses Courtney and Katie Scar- Clandeboye CLANDEBOYE - The Clande- boye Women's Institute met at the -3A's Restaurant in Exeter for their Christmas meeting. Fifteen mem- bers and five visitors enjoyed a de- licious turkey dinner. President, Marion Hodgson, conducted a short business meet- ing. Group 2 was in charge of the program. Christmas readings, "The High Cost of Christmas", "Ode to Christmas" and "What Christmas is Really About" were given by Edie Worthington, Gla- dys Cunningham and Jean Hod- gins. An exchange of gifts followed. A presentation was made to Hazel Cunningham in appreciation of her work as Secretary -Treasurer and bus Tour convener. Christmas remembrance were sent to former Clandeboye resi- dents at the Craigweil Apts. and Nursing home in Ailsa Craig also to Rea and Beth Neil in Lucan. Christmassounds EXETER - On Wednesday, De- cember 13, the Music Department at South Huron District High School presented their annual Christmas Concert, The Sounds of Christmas. • Around 350 people were treated to the sounds of two concert bands, a brass ensemble, a flute ensemJ 1e, a vocal duet and two choirs. Me concert provided excellent variety. Because of the generosity of the audience, the Music Department was able to donate seven large box- es of canned goods to the Christ- mas Bureau and a cheque for $130.00. . Thanks to the Bethel Reformed Choir for their lovely musical pro- gram last Monday evening. We are so fortunate to have so many come and visit during the year and espe- cially at Christmas. Gen Fashions provided our last clothing sale of 1989. Santa was able to get a lot of help ,from the sale. Time is flying by and Santa needs all kinds of help. The Lioness provided a full eve- ning of entertainment. Several chil- dren from the Usboine School got us in the mood with Christmas songs and then the ladies took over. It really was a treat to be able to go for a car ride and see the Christmas lights around town. The lights were exceptionally beautiful with the freshly fallen snow. Thanks ladies! We had some unexpected treats last week. We were pleased to have Ethel Cushman and friends join us for some music and a special thanks to Ethel for the delicious buns. Josie Rykman and Maxine Sereda treated us to an afternoon of carols and hymns on Thursday. The Calvinettes visited and left two lovely poinsettias to remind us of their many visits over the past; year. Thought for the week: Laughter is a tranquilizer with no side-ef- fects. ide offects.
