Insley - McCann
Pauline Elizabeth, daughter of
Nell and the fate Jack McCann,
Mt. Carmel and Murray William,
son of Ted and Ruth Insley, Exet-
er, were united in marriage on
September 2, 1989 at Our Lady
of Mt. Carmel Church with Father
Frank Murphy officiating. Barb
Hartman, sister of the bride,
was matron of honour. Brides-
maids were Gina Regier, friend
and cousin of the bride, Karen
Insley, sister of the groom, Mary -
Jo McCann, friend and cousin of
the bride, Lisa Hardy, niece of
the bride. Junior bridesmaids
were Lindsay Hardy, Kerr! Hart-
man and Lora Lee Hardy, all
nieces of the bride. Flowergirls
were Loni Hardy, Aimee McCann
and Jillian McCann, also all niec-
es of the bride. Jim Bickell,
friend of the groom, was best
man. Guests were ushered by
Steve McCann, brother of the
bride, Brian Insley, friend and
cousin of the bride, Rich
McCann, brother of the bride,
and Eugene Hartman, nephew of
the bride. After a honeymoop to
the Pocono Mountains ./ the
couple are now residing in'Exet-
er.
Assembly at Christian School
CLINTON - Plans for a special
Christmas assembly are well under-
way at the Clinton and District
Christian School.
This program, set for the after-
noon of December 20 will have
every classroom participating.
We invite our many parents and
friends to join us.
Both junior and senior choirs are
preparing their Christmas music;
the classrooms are practicing their
parts also .All grades are busy with
special art to decorate the halls and
foyer. Christmas is a time of great
joy and our students are responding
with excitement too.
Noon recess guitar lessons have
started for those students who are
interested, from grades 5-8. Mr.
Bos, aided by Miss Kroesbergen,
are in charge of these sessions.
Many students are bringing their in-
struments to school and are eager to
learn.
The Wednesday after school vol-
ley ball sessions are als'o well at-
tended with more than 40 boys and
girls staying until 4:30 to improve
their skills under the supervision of
Mrs. Roorda and Mr. VanLingen.
On Monday December 4, a devo-
tional assembly was led by Mr.
Huls. Pastor Phil Weaver of the
Vanastra Christian Reformed
Church spoke to the students stress -
sing the importance of Jesus Christ
and looking forward to celebrating
His birth in this Christmas advent
season.
Grade three performed some chor-
al speaking selections and everyone
enjoyed some group singing.
The week ended with term one re-
port cards being handed out on Fri-
day December 8. Students were
both eagerand -hesitant to receive
this first major evaluation of their
progress this year.
Everyone now is looking forward
to celebrating Christmas and the
subsequent+two weeks of holidays.

UCW evokes Christmas. feeling
AILSA CRAIG - Aftcr partaking
of good food, singing Christmas
carols, hearing Christmas scriptures
and fellowship with friends, the
Ailsa Craig U.C.W. members went
home from the December meeting
with a very special feeling for
Christmas.
The evening began with a very
bountiful pot luck supper and while
the work crew were doing the wash-
ing up everyone else enjoyed a
singsong of Christmas carols with
Sylvia Therwall at the piano. Janet

CENTRALIA - At the United
Church on Sunday, Rev. Carter
chose as her topic "It's not Always
Ho -Ho Time".
Next Sunday service will be at
the regular time of 11:30 a.m. with
Sunday School at 10:30 as well as
Junior Choir practice at 10 a.m.
Christmas eve family service
will be held at 8 p.m. at Centralia
Church with the celebration of
Holy Communion.
All reports are asked to be in by
Sunday, January 7 for the year
1989.
Mr. and Mrs. Borden Smyth,
Brandon Gaynor and Mrs. Irene
Theander and Paul were Sunday
guests of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas
Theander for pre -Christmas fami-
ly gathering at their home in West-
minster Twp.
Tom and I were guests Sunday
of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Sovereign,
Lucan for a family gathering to
honour . Helen MacDonald for her
birthday where 18 family members
gathered to celebrate with a lovely
dinner. Followed by days gone by,
looking at old pictures.
Johnstone, the regional vice presi-
dent brought greetings from the re-
gional and presbyterial executives.
A worship service for advent was
led by Margaret Wilson. She was
assisted by Wilma McIntosh, Mary
Scafc and Betty Sutherland. Four
candles were lit, one for light, one
for joy, one for freedom and one for
peace.
Then everyone watched a video
advent program entitled, preparing
for Christmas. The songs, scripture
and stories presented in the video
enlarged on the true meaning of
Christmas. During a brief business
meeting with Donna Cox presiding,
the various committees reported on
the work accompanied throughout
the past year. Lena Stokes gave a
nominating report and presented a
complete slate of officers for 1990.
A collecton was taken for the An-
gel Fund of the North Middlesex
High School. Rev. Anne Beattie -
Stokes urged everyone touse the
books in the new library and to at-
tend the Christmas Eve service in
the Ailsa Craig United Church. At
the close of the meeting everyone
drank a toast for a good 1990.
The next UCW meeting will be
in the Sunday school room of the
church at 8 p.m. on Tuesday Janu-
ary 9.
