Northcrest News
A Christmas dinner was held on
December 11 at Northcrest. The
turkey and vegetables were donat-
ed by Ernie and Olga Chipchase
and Ida Dickert and the other resi-
dents brought salads and desserts.
Twenty-three sat down to dinner
and enjoyed a feast fit for a king.
Residents of Norihcrest are
mourning the loss of Victor Knip,
their janitor. Although Knip had
been ill since July, he continued
cheerfully with his duties until late
autumn. He will be long remem-
bered for his courtesy, reliability
and all-round good nature.
Our hearts go out to Julie, his
lovely wife, who has courageously
carried on the duties in our build-
ing with the help of relatives here
from Holland.
United Church
Sunday evening the junior and
senior choirs and the male chorus
from the Exeter Christian Re-
formed Church presented a carol
service. A solo, "What child is
this?" was sung by Dania Thur-
man. The male chorus, under the
direction of Al DeHaan, sang two
numbers. The quartet of Donna
St. John, Joyce Pepper, Doug
Mock, and Tom Bailey also per-
formed before Rev. Doug Wright
closed the evening of music with
prayer and benediction. •
The annual church meeting is
January 14, with a pot luck supper
at 6:30 p.m.
Carmel Presbyterian
After a communion service fea-
turing music and a Christmas mes-
sage, John Baker presented Rev.
Mark Gaskin with a fruit basket
from the congregation. Jan Baker
presented organist Carolyn Love
with another gift from the congre-
gation in appreciation of her duties
and extra work.
There is a Chrismon service at
Carmel at 9:45 a.m. next Sunday
and a Christmas Eve service at 7:30
p.m.
The final meeting of the Presby-
terian Church' Women of the year
was held December 11. Dorothy
Taylor was in charge of the devo-
tional, in which six members took
part. Edith Bell and Carolyn Love
accompanied the singing on the
two organs.
After the pot -luck supper, the la-
dies packed gifts for all the home-
bound of the church congregation.
It is hoped these small remem-
brances will bring cheer to those
people and that all will have a
healthy and happy holiday season.
