Nurse tells Staffa WI of China trip

STAFFA - Freda Kerslake and
Marjorie Drake hosted the Interna-
tional meeting of the Staffa Wom-
en's Institute in the township hall
on Wednesday evening.
Guest speaker was Joyce Doig,
Seaforth who is a registered nurse
and department head of emergency
at Clinton Hospital.
Joyce was asked by People to
People to be part of a delegation to
China where they visited many
hospitals and clinics.. She showed
slides of her trip and gave a excel-
lent commentary on China and
Hong Kong. Joyce was introduced
and thanked by Marjorie Drake.
Freda Kerslake presided. Some of
the members and their leaders from
Staffa #1 4H club were present and
set up a display on "Snacks in a
Sac" with Anne Taylor giving the
commentary on Good Food Fast.
Eleven members and five visitors
answered the roll call by naming a
country with whom Canada trades.
Roberta Templeman presided for
the business when minutes were
read by Lillian Douglas and the
treasurer's report given by Kay
Smale.
Lillian Douglas reported on the
London Area Convention and Kay
Smale on the Perth South District
executive meeting at St. Pauls. Ro-
berta reported on the Perth County

Donations were made to Opti-
mism House, Perth County Chil-
dren's Aid and Water for All.
The December meeting was re-
viewed and members were invited
to Verle Mahons home for the
Christmas meeting on Wednesday
December 20 at 7:30 p.m.
Guest speaker at the Christmas
meeting will be the London Area
President, Latrine McIntosh and
• members were reminded to bring a
gift for their sezret pal.
Roberta closed the meeting with a
poem "Holi-Daze". A social time
was enjoyed, prepared and served by
Freda Kerslake and Marjorie Drake.
Personals
Visiting recently with Isabel Ker-
slake were Ila Jantzi, Carl and John
Drown. They later visited with their
brother Harvey Drown in Stratford
Hospital.
Rev. B. Daynard baptized Kathryn
Ada, daughter of Jim and Bonnie
Dorking, during the service at Hib-
bert United Church on Sunday.
