and Johshua.
After the meal Ms. Jamieson

Second advent candle lit
EXETER - A candle was lit by
Barb Passmore and family in cele-
bration of the Second Sunday of
Advent.
The candles of Advent are sym-
bolic of Jesus as the light of the
world. The four blue candles repre-
sent hope, peace, joy and love.
Many white gifts were presented
at the front of the Church to help
bring joy to someone else's Christ-
mas.
The congregation was treated to a
beautiful interpretation of Handel's
Messiah by Ralph Topp on the or-
gan, Susan Graham as soloist and
the senior choir. The rafters truly
rang with joy.
The church was beautifully deco-
rated. with 50 poinsettias which
have been donated in celebration of
Christmas, special events and in
memory of loved ones.
The U.C.W. have purchased a
white figurine Christmas, Cache
which looks beautiful on the Ad-
vent blue velvet which adorns the
communion table.
The color for Advent is blue, rep-
resenting the traditional color wom

by Mary, the mother of Jesus. At
Christmas the color changes to
white and gold for purity and joy.
On the Sundays after Epiphany, it
is green for peace and hope, except
on the first and last Sunday - the
baptism of Jesus and his transfigu-
ration - when the color is white.
The organ was also decorated by
the Advent Wreath of blue lights
and the evergreen reminding us of
everlasting life.
Flowers were also placed in the
.sanctuary by the families of the late
Hazel Coward, the late Rosa Dear-
ing and the late Jessie Tiedeman.
Our sympathies are extended to
these families.
During the service we were treat-
ed to a most delicious aroma com-
ing from the kitchen. Expectations
were not disappointed with a lunch-
eon following the service prepared
by the Senior Youth.
