also won their area championship held at St. Boniface in Zurich.
Bantams at Clinton tourney
CLINTON - On Sunday morning the Bantams got eliminated from
the Clinton Optimist Tournament with a tough loss to Wingham 5-4.
Exeter was down 5-1 going to the third period but with three min-
utes left, the locals -went on a scoring spree and with 30 seconds left,
they trailed by one goal.
Exeter had many chances, but Wingham's goalie Jamie McLellan
stood up very: well and kept his team in the game.
Exeter goals were scored by Mark Glavin, Rob Kramer and Fred
Godbolt with two.
Exeter plays its next game against Strathroy in Exeter at 7:45, so
come out and cheer on the locals at the Rec Centre.
Broncos beat Parkhill 4-3
EXETER - The Exeter Atom
Broncos earned two victories last
week.
They defeated Parkhill 4-3 Sun-
day in Shamrock League play and
were 3-1 winners over Goderich
Saturday in an exhibition game.
Both games were played at the
South Huron Rec Centre.
Sunday's game saw Exeter take a
2-1 lead after one period of play
over Parkhill.
Jeff Sararas and Jeff MacLean
were the Exeter marksmen, while
Jake Morgan replied for Parkhill.
Bill Kline, Rob Lynn and Chad
Gilfillan drew fust -period assists
for the winners.
Dave Farquhar had the'only goal
of the second period for Exeter,
from Sararas and Ryan Bcckctt.
Parkhill fired two quick goals
early in the third period to tie the
game at 3-3, both by Symon Des -
Jardine.
But at 5:33 of the third, Kline
fired what was to be the winning.

lan.
Exeter 3 Goderich 1
The visitors notched an early goal
in the game and it stood up, until 56
seconds of the third, when Lynn
got Exeter on the board . with a
short-handed goal from Farquhar.
Then with less than a minute left,
Sararas fired what proved to be the 1
winning goal, from Lynn and
MacLean, while Gilfillan added an
empty -nester from Geoff Maver
and Eric Clay.
Jason Lindenfield won both
games in goal for Exeter.
Molting Hawks lose consolation
LUCAN - The Molting Hawks
lost the Consolation Final in Lucan
tournament on the weekend.
On Friday, they were edged by
Dorchester 2-1.
Ernie Ahrens had the only goal
with Bob McDonald picking up an
assist.
Game two saw them beat Wood-
stock 6-3 with Jack Chipchasc and
Bob Parsons each notching two
goals and Ron Moore and Emic
Ahrens adding singles.
McDonald had two assists, while
Jim Pfaff, Brian Hodgins, Ernie
Ahrens, Ron Moore, Chipchasc and
veteran Al Flynn added single asi,
sists. ,
In the third game Lucan Flyers
beat Exeter 6-4 to put them in the
consolation. Bob Parsons led the
way with two goals, while Eric
Finkbciner had his first of the sea-
son and Ahrens added single goals.
McDonald, Jack Chipchasc,
Brian Hodgins, Jim Pfaff and Ernie
Ahrens all had the assists.
In the consolation final on Sun-
day, they were edged in overtime
5-4 by Lucan again.
Moore showed the way Sunday
with a pair of goals, Bob McDo-
nald and Bob Jones added singles.
Pincombe, Parsons, Hodgins, Ah-
rens, Chipchase and McDonald all
had assists. -•
c.ilcu :Ale played well all week
end in goal for the Molting Hawks.
Last Monday, they were edged
by Forest 6-5.
Chipchase was a scoring machine
for the Molting Hawks with four
goals, while McDonald had a single
tally.
1=lodgins had two assists, Ernie
Ahrens, Moore and Parsons added
singles.

Petite Ringette win bronze medal
GODERICH - The Exeter and
District Becker Farm Equipment
Petite Ringette team started their
tournament tour by winning bronze
medal in Goderich Saturday.
The locals played Forest their
first trip to the ice and lost 9-8.
Exeter came out confident in the
first period, holding Forest to only
two goals while scoring four.
Amy Edwards and Jayne Ballan-
tyne each scored two for Exeter,
while assists came from Jo -Dee
Rowe, Carolyn Quinn and Meagan,
Raiz, in the first period.
Second period action started with
Ballantyne and Edwards getting
singles, but Forest started their
come back with four quick goals to
tie the score.
Kelly Regier and Edwards each
pumpcd one in with Katie Webber,
Teresa Stire and Quinn assisting,
but Forest added three to take the
Bells win twice
EXETER - The Exeter Atom Belts picked up two more Lambton
Middlesex Hockey League wins last week to run their unbeaten
streak to 10 games and their record to 9-0-1.
They defeated the Forest Rangers 5-3 and blanked the Ilderton
Oilers 3-11
Ryan Freiter and Ryan Soldan each scored fust -period goals to
give Exeter a 2-0 lead heading to the second. Scott Rasenburg, Mark
Parsons and Lawrence Cole picked up the assists on the goals.
Freiter had the only goal of the second period, an unassisted effort
at 2:20, to make it a 3-0 game.
Shaun Simpson scored Exeter's fourth goal of the garlic early. in
the third period, from Bryon Ellerington and Brian Richardson.
Forest then scored a pair of goals to cut Exeter's lead in half but
Ellerington scored one later, from Freiter to round out Exeter's scor-
ing.
Forest added another late in the game but it was too little, too late
to mount a comeback.
Exeter 3 Ilderton 0
Exeter got all it would need in this gamein the first period and
hung on in the second and third periods for the shutout win.
Freiter scored from Scott Rasenberg, Soldan tallied unassisted,
Simpson connected from Jon Moore.
Joe Bierling stopped all shots to record the whitewash and won
both games.
win. Only 59 seconds was left
when the final goal slipped in.
Despite the disappointing loss,
Exeter rebounded quickly, only an
hour later to win 7-0 over Gode-
rich.
Tracy Taylor recorded the shut-
out for Exeter, stopping many hard
shots.
Edwards slammed in a•hat trick
and one assist, Cheryl Wein had
two goals and one assist, Quinn had
one goal and two assists, while
Raiz picked up the final goal. As-
sists were from Stire, Webber, Wil-
helm, Rowe, Ballantyne and Regi-
cr.
The locals finished in third place
in regular play which sent them to
the Consolation final against the
fourth -place Goderich team.
Edwards opened the scoring for
Exeter with Quinn assisting only to
have Goderich come back with
Erin Brereton scoring seconds after
Edwards' goal.
Two minutes later, Rowe
thumped one in, an unassisted ef-
fort,. and Quinn followed one min-
ute later.
Edwards and Webber combined
to add the final first period marker
for Exeter. Brereton added one
more for Goderich.
Tara Million of Goderich started
the second period scoring only 10
seconds after the first whistle.
Exeter took over the scoring for
the remainder of the game with
Webber, Rowe and Edwards each
added an unassisted goal, to win
the bronze medal by a 7-3 score.
Tracy Taylor played another
strong game between the pipes for
Exeter.
The Petites travel to Mitchell this
weekend to play in the annual-
Mitchell
nnual-Mitchell tourney.
The first game is 12 noon Satur-
day against Seaforth, second 5:30
p.m. against St. Marys and Sunday
at 8:00 a.m. against Mitchell.
