Fun -filled Scouting camp -out
By Roberta Walker
GRAND BEND - The Grand Bend
United Church began their Sunday
Service with a litany of light, as
the first Candle of Advent was lit in
expectation of Christ's Coming.
Diane Rice read the scriptures
from Romans 13:18-14 and Mat-
thew 24: 36-44.
The choir anthem was "Pure Na-
ture" and the children's hymn was
"Little Children Wake and Listen".
Pastor Colin Stover based his ser-
mon on Matthew 22:44 titled
"Expect it when you least expect
it". Advent is a season of expecta-
tion in the church which reflects
our trust and hope in God's promis-
es that Christ who came, will come
again.
The sympathy of the church fami-
ly is extended to Ruth Hendlick and
her family for the death of her son
Rick Hendrick.
The following people are ill or in
hospital and should be remembered.
Mrs. Dianne hush, Rick Brintnell,
Shirley Anderson, Manuel Curts
and Lloyd Foster.

With Annabelle Walz as discus-
sion leader, they began Part 5 of
"Women Who Developed Positive
Family Relationships." Their study
about Elizabeth from Luke 1: 5-25
tells about her husband Zechariah.
The couple were descendents of
Aaron, and childless, which was
counted as a curse in those days. An
angel appeared to Zechariah while
he was at his priestly duties in the
temple, and told him that Elizabeth
Zechariah didn't believe the angel,
but Elizabeth acknowledged God's
kindness in taking away her dis-
grace to God, all things are possi-
ble.
Doris Peebles closed with prayer.
