This table was almost sold out of its bake goods after one hour and took in well over $500. Holding some of the remaining goodies here are, from left, Gladys Hall, Bernice Lockyer and Jean Hodgins. 'Candlemas' gathering at rectory By Mary Davis SAINTSBURY - Eleven o'clock service was held at St. Patrick's Sunday. Pianist Sheryl Carroll pro- vided music, Rose Cunning was server and Marguerite Greenlee read the lessons. Rev. Wheeler spoke to the chil- dren on the Queen and Jewels - closing with a short prayer. She took her text from the Gospel for the day. She said if we truly let Je- sus into our lives, we will never act the same; you cannot have Chris- tianity without Jesus. Members of the congregation arc invited to a "Candlemas" gathering at the rectory on Friday, December 8at8p.m. A Christmas service is planned for 6:30 on December 24 at Saints - bury. The Christmas party for the Sun- day School pupils is planned for Sunday, December 10 following the 11:00 service. A social hour will follow. Alt members are wel- come. Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Cunning- ham celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on November 25 in the Kirkton Community Centre. They were honored by their family with a dance and refreshments: Many friends and neighbors at- tended. They presented the couple with a chair and lamp. The Cun- ninghams expressed their thanks. Santa in Centralia December 3 By Mary Kooy CENTRALIA - At the United Church on Sunday Rev. Carter chose as her topic "How do you Re- ceive Him". Tuesday and Thursday each week, exercise at Centralia Church from 8:45 to 9:30 a.m. On Wednesday Rev. Carter will give Communion at the Exeter Vil- la. In the evening Bible Study con- cludes at 8 p.m. at the manse. On Thursday Sunday School teachers meet at 7:30 p.m. at the manse. • Next Sunday December 3, Sunday • school at morning worship is at regular times. There will be a cele- bration of baptism, communion and transfer of new members. Santa parade Next Sunday December 3 it's the Santa Claus parade through town at 1 p.m. Church members are asked to bring bag lunch while they wait to watch the parade following morning service. Euchre winners. At the euchre party at Heywood's restaurant on Monday November 20 prize winners were : high score - Rhea Beatson, Art Ashworth; lone hands - Grace Wurm, Ed Wurm; low score - Olive Volk, Harold Guilfoyle; special prize winner - Betty Guilfoyle. Next gathering De- cember 4 at 2:30 p.m. During the storm on Monday evening November 20, a small crowd attended the first euchre at Neil's schoolhouse. Prizes went to high score - Hazel Cunningham, Earl Morgan; lone hands - Marian Thompson, Alfred Mathers; low score - Elizabeth Colin, Andy Thompson . Next euchre December 4 at 8 p.m. Personals Sympathy is extended to Mrs. Florence Hodgins in the death of her brother-in-law, Cyril Morley of Parkhill. Friday evening dinner guests with.
