Dear Sir:
I research my husband's family
name of Metherell and its spelling
variants throughout the world. Re-
cently we were in the Perth County
archives in Stratford, Ontario, and
came across an index to the Exeter
Times and Exeter Advocate of Hu-
ron County for the period 1873-
1893. It included the marrLage of
Louisa Metherall of Hibbert to Wil-
liam Parish of Hibbert on the 11th
January, 1888.
Unfortunately Stratford had only
the index so we were unable to ver-
ify from the newspaper itself what
was the connection with Exeter, ex -
ancestors
cept that I believe that many set-
tlers of Huron County came from
Devonshire, England, as did the
Metherell family of Hibbert.
1 have a great deal of family his-
tory on file relating to the Hibbert
Metherells and I wondered whether
there were any descendents of this
marriage in the Exeter area, or any
other of your readers who would be
interested in corresponding on .the
last names of Metherall, Metherell,
Meatherall and similar variations.
Yours sincerely,
