PTA banquet
at Clinton school
CLINTON - The annual Parent-
Teacher Association Banquet and
General meeting of the Clinton and "
District Christian School was held
on November 10 in the school gym.
President Roele Verburg welcomed
abdut 110 guests.
Then it was time to eat! The meal
was put on by the dinner committee
of the P.T.A. and consisted of Indo-
nesian Cuisine with tropical fruit
punch and delightful fruit salad
dessert. Everyone thoroughly en-
joyed this; After this brief break
Sharon Parker entertained us with
some nice songs, accompanying
herself on the piano.
We listened to speakers Dan Cou-
chi and Calvin Davies, both music
teachers in London High Schools.
Their theme was "Todays Music -
Biblical and Secular". Docs today's
popular rock music fit in the Chris-
tian homes? Do your children know
what they are listening to, just the
peppy beat or do they know the lyr-
ics as well? Not all of it is suitable
for our youngsters for certain!
Mr. Couchi showed some glimps-
es of music videos. Much of it was
not impressive. It is best to have
good communication with your
child," and then decide together
which music is God glorifying.
The Clinton and Di rict School
Parent-Teacher Association is rep-
resented with delegates from the
following areas: Clinton, Blyth, Va-
nastra, Goderich, and Exeter, along
with three school staff members.
Letters to Santa
EXETER - The Exeter Post Of-
fice will be among the participants
in this year's Exeter Santa Claus pa-
rade on December 2.
On display in the parade will be a
Canada Post vehicle, complete with
the new logo and corporate colors
which were introduced this spring.
Letters may be given to Santa's
helpers, the Exeter Girl Guides, ac-
companying the vehicle who will
take the letters directly to Santa
Claus.
Children are asked to ensure they
include their name and return ad-
dre.s, along with their postal code
so that Santa can provide them with
a speedy reply.
As in past years, Santa's address
is:
Santa Claus
North Pole
Canada
HOH OHO
Postal employees plus Canada
Post retirees in hundreds of post of-
fices large and small across south-
western Ontario are devoting much
of their spare time to this annual la-
bor of love - helping a certain .old
fellow from the North Pole with his
Christmas correspondence.
More than 72,000 letters were an-
swered in southwestern Ontario last
year by over 800 volunteers. Na-
tionally, 740,000 replies were sent
out. To help the volunteers, Canada
Post provides envelopes and letters.
This year the corporation's Heri-
tage Club - a group of retired Cana-
da Post employees, as well as em-
ployees with 25 years service or
more - will also be taking the time
to help Santa ensure children re-
ceive replies to their letters.

Long Ago. There will be plum
pudding steaming on the wood -
stove, the smell of hot spicy cider
and homemade presents and deco-
rations in the pioneer home. You
can experience the joy of Christmas
by the glow of candlelight in the
chapel white singing Christmas car-
ols.
For the past eight years, almost
2000 area school children have tak-
en part in this special Christmas
program at the museum. Now the
public is invited to join in the cele-
bration.
Although money was scarce and
decorations were simple, Christmas
was a special time for the early res-
idents of Lambton County. In the
workshop, a carpenter will demon-
strate the simple homemade toys
that would have delighted a child
By the 1890's people were more
prosperous and Christmas became a
more elaborate ceIeb tion. Many
presents, such as wax- ead dolls,
games and books were urchased
and placed, unwrapped, on and un-
der the tree. In the parlour,'beside a
tree cornered with store-bgyght and
homemade decorations, there will
be demonstrations of popular Vic-
torian paper crafts. .
Come out and celebrate Christ-
mas Long Ago! The Lambton Heri-
tage Museum is located on High-
way 21, eight kilometres south of
Grand Bend. For more information
call 243-2600.
