New slate installed

DASHWOOD - Calvary United
Church women held their Novem-
ber 14 meeting in the church parlor.
Chairperson Jane Newman wel-
comed 19 members and two guests.
The Christian Development group
were incharge of the program.
Rita Chandler led the responsive
reading followed bY the scripture
reading read by Elizabeth , Hen-
drick. A piano solo was played by
Idella Gabel.
Mildred Kellerman read a ballad
of "Befana."
Ruth Mack, the interim minister's
wife, spoke of the interesting part
of . a minister's wife as they trav-
elled for the past 47 years. Their
pastoral charges were in Australia
(where her husband travelled on a
moped), New Zealand, Singapore
and Bermuda.
Rev. Mack was a chaplin in Ma-
laysia for two years. He came to
C'hnada and had various charges; he
ow retire ' in London.
.,ev. Mack installed the new slate
of officers for 1990: Past President
Maida Gaiser; President Karen Tie -
man; 1st Vice -President Bernice
Boyle; Secretary Jane Newman and
Treasurer Rita Chandler.
Committee conveners are:
Church in Society - Elizabeth Hen-
drick; Stewardship and Finance and
Leadership - Maida Gaiser; Chris-
tian Development - Eleanor Wei-
gand; World Outreach - Val Ford.
President Karen Tieman an-
nounced the following dates to re-

25, 9-3 and UCW Christmas dinner

Happy 98th birthday was sung to
Mrs. Sophia Haist. Her daughter
Eunice Dutextre, of Densmore, Sas-
katchewan accompanied her to the
meeting. A birthday cake made by
Martha Weigand was served.
Pat and Gwen O'Rourke and two
daughters attended the Joe Read
school of dancing London competi-
tion held Saturday at Cambridge.
Erin received a gold medal in ac-
robatic beginners solo and a silver
in jazz beginners group. Keriann
won a silver medal in novice jazz.
Rob Hoffman and Dwayne Butler.
received a silver cup for best -effort
in their jazz number. Congratula-.
tions everybody.
Successful show
The annual Christmas craft show
and sale in Dashwood, November
8-9 was successful.'

WI euchre
Women's Institute euchre party
was held Wednesday with eight ta-
bles. Prizes won by Greta Reste-
mayer ladies high: Annie Finkbein-
er, Zurich, played as -a man and
won high; Gwen McKellar, Zurich
ladies low and Frieda Kellar men's
low. Rosie Rader won most lone
hands.
It appears the party needs more
men players. Men and women,
show up for the next party Wednes-
day, November 29 at 8 p.m. at the
centre.
