EXETER - The Exeter Mo-
hawks breezed to their eighth
straight Senior A hockey win
without a loss Sunday night at the
South Huron Rec Centre when
they rolled over the Chatham Var-
co Maroons 10-3.
Saturday night, the Mohawks
made it seven straight wins when
they demolished a short-staffed
Lambeth. Flyers team in Lambeth
23-2. Sunday's win was the fifth
time in eight games the Mohawks
hit double figures.
Sunday night, the Maroons car-
ried a good portion of the play and
outshot the Mohawks 30-26 in the
game, but Exeter had better -quali-
ty chances and made the most of
their's. Mohawk goalie Bill Dark
played a strong game and came up
big against Chatham whenever he
was called upon. \
The Mohawks led 3-1 after one
period and 6-3 after the second but
scored four more in the third while
Chatham hit the scoresheet only
once that period.
Joe Scherer, Paul Barton, Greg
Snyder and Dave Randerson each
had a pair of markers tolead the
Mohawks Sunday night, while Jefi,
Carr and Jeff McClenaghan scored
once each.
Barton and Dale Gibbon' had a
pairof assists, while single assists
went to Kris Bedard, Quincy
Wilker, Jeff Warren, Carr,
McClenaghan, Al Gates, Ron Elli-
ot, Snyder and Les Arts.
Each team was assessed four mi-
norpenalties by referee Lee Rich -

rently ties for second place, four
points behind the Mohawks in the
Southern Senior A standings, with
a record of 6-1.
The Hornets should prove to be
the toughest match for the Mp-
hawks so far this year since the
Hornets possess one of the toughest
defences in the league giving up
only 20 goals in seven games so far
tliis year, while scoring 64 times. "
Exeter Eagles bomb Parkhill 74

EXETER - The Exeter Eagles
bombed Parkhill 7-1 in Lambton-

,FOREST - The Exeter and
District Petite Ringette team
travelled to Forest Saturday
but lost 14-3.
Action in the first period
, was close, with Forest lead-
ing 3-1. Exeter's lone goal in

Forest broke the game
wide open mid -way through
the second, to take \the
chance of a win out of reach
for Exeter. Amy Edwards

the Forest goal and was suc-
cessful on two shots, late in
the second. Carolyn Quinn
helped on one of the late
goals.
Exeter heads back on the
road Saturday, when they
travelled to Stratford's Rotary
Arena for a 5:00 p.m. game.

beat Old Tractors
EXETER The Molting Hawks
.an their record to 7-0 in regular
play with a 8-5 win over Southwest
Old Tractors last Monday. '
Ken Bergmann had two goals to
lead the way while Scott Burton,
Brian Hodgins, Ron Moore, Bob
McDonald, Ernie' Ahrens and vete-
ran Bill Pincombe each added one
goal.
Moore had three assists .while
Jack Chipchase chipped in with
two, Bob McDonald had two, Ernie
Ahrens had two, while Scott Burton
had two and Bob Parsons and Brian
Hodgins each picked up one assist.
Sarnia Tourney
They travelled to Sarnia on the
weekend to play in a tournament.
On .Friday they were beat by
Lambeth Canadians 3-0. -
On Saturday morning they beat
Kitchener 5-2.
Bob Parsons had two goals to
lead the way while Ken Bergmann,
Jack Chipchase and Ernie Ahrens
each added on,' g• d.
Brian Hodgins had two assists
while Ron Moore, Jack Chipchase
and Bob•McDonald each added one
assist.
Later Saturday they were elimi-
nated by Lansing, Michigan who
beat them 10-3.
They host Sarnia Old Oilers in
their only start this week.
Stephen Pee Wees
improve record
GODERICH - The Stephen
Township Pee Wccs improved the
WOAA Hockey League record to
3-0 with a 3-1 win over Goderich
on Saturday.
Goderich got on the board first
but Stephen Township countered
later in the first to get back on even
terms.
Brent Gibson scored for the lo-
cals from Kcn DcsJardine and
Chris Glavin.
Stephen Township scored their
only two other goals in the second
period. Richie Dobson scored from
Pres Lavier and Gibson notched his
second, from DesJardine.
Winning goalie Andy Glavin
played well to keep Stephen Town-
ship close before finally taking the
lead for good in the second period
after their slow start.
They increased the lead to 2-0
when Bryan Inch scored on an un-
assisted effort.
Parkhill got on the board just
over a minute later, but they were
not able to recover.
Exeter's outburst started when
Mark Brintnell found the mark with
6:49 remaining in the second peri-
od. Jamie Dougall assisted on the
play.
"1be next goal came from the
stick of Jeff Lingard. The assist
weht to Scott Parsons.
With 1:23 left in the second, Par-
sons connected from Lingard and
Partridge.
In the third, Lingard scored .two
unanswered goals completing his
hat trick. Assists went to Parsons
and Paddy Morrissey. _

Irish beat Tavistock twice
TAVISTOCK - The Lucan Irish
extended their unbeaten streak to
nine game with a pair of wins over
the Tavistock Braves last week.
The Irish whipped the Braves 8-
1 last Wednesday night at the Lu -
can Arena and doubled the count
6-3 Friday night at the Tavistock
Arena.
Lucan's record now stands at h-
0-1 good for first place in the
North Division of the Western
Junior D Hockey League and a
three-point lead over both Exeter
and Mitchell Hawks.

Friday night, the Irish outscoi'ea
the Braves 2-1 in each of the three
periods and cruised to the win,
getting goals from six ditterent
scorers.
Scoring for the Irish were; John
McEachern from Greg Southam
and Jamie Pearce, Glen Marshall •
from Todd Hayter, Brian Schuyler
from Kevin "Leitch and Jeff Hirt-
zell, Jack Legg from McEachern
and Hayter, Hirtzell from Leitch
and Greg Deprest unassisted.
Irish netminder Dan Jenkin
played well stopping 30 shots that
were sent his way, while Braves
goalie Jeff Redfern made 25 stops.
Last Wednesday, the Irish were
led by the hat trick from Rick
Weishar, while Marshall had a pair
and single goals were scored by Ed
Vankerkle, Brian Reath, and De-
prest.
McEachern, Tim Hayter and
Scott Mackey had two assists each,
and Schuyler, Todd Hayter, Weish-
ar, and Darren Neil had one assist.
They broke open a 4-1 game af-
ter two periods, with four goals in
the third.
The Irish will play both teams
that are tied for second spot this
week. Wednesday night, tonight,
Mitchell will be at the Lucan Are-
na for an 8:15 game, while the
Irish travel north to the South Hu-
ron Rec Centre Friday night to take
on Exeter at 8:30 p.m.
