Huron Park Cadets change command
- HURON PARK - For only the
fifth time in its 16-year.history, the
2923 Huron Park Cadet Corps held
a change -of -command ceremony to
mark the arrival of a new com-
manding officer.
• Change of command - Captain G.S. Pfaff (left) signed over the com-
mand of the Huron Park Cadet Corps on Thursday evening to Cap-
tain R.W. Helm (right) under the watchful eye of Captain D.C. Whar-
ry, the Officer commanding the Western Ontario Area Detachment.
Captain G.S. Pfaff signed over
command of the corps to Captain
R.W. Helm on Thurday evening.
Pfaff had beenin command for
seven years, even though . his ap-
pointed term expired four years
ago.
Pfaff told the audience •of cadets
and parents he would have gladly
tumed over his command years ago
if it were not for the fact there were
so few -candidates available in the
area to take over the position. This
year, Pfaff said he felt Helm was
more than capable of guiding the
unit through the coming years.
Pfaff began his command in
1982 when he took over from Cap-
tain Janice Frayne.
Reviewing officer for the eve-
ning, Captain D.C. Wharry com-
mented on_ the strength of the Hu-
ron Park corps.
"It ma be small in number, but
it's high in quality," he said. Whar-
ry said he was impressed with the
unit, but did note a few of its mem-
bers had yet to be supplied with a
complete uniform.
The incoming officer, Helm said
he was resolved to maintain the
unit's high standard and he said he
wanted to place more emphasis on
recruiting to bring the corp's num-
bers up. He took special_ note' of
the lack of female cadets i'h its
ranks.

REDUCING POLLUTION
The cleanliness of our air, land, and water and the preservation of natural resources are matters of
impassioned debate in your municipality. The Bluewater Recycling Association is already operating
within the strictures of Provincial and Federal regulations, but your municipality, a member of the
Association, wants to go beyond these regulations to make your environment a cleaner one.
Therefore starting on November 6, 1989, the collection of recycables will be done on one side of
the street, except for highways and major streets, as specified below:
