Locals do well in soccer tourney

Mt. Carmel.
The officials for all game were
students from Stratford St. Mi-
chael's High School who kindly
took time ou of their day to make
sure all games were officiated. Their
efforts were appreciated by the or-
ganizers.
EXETER - Local teams did very
well in the Huron -Perth Separate
School Soccer Tournament which
was played on three venues in town
last Tuesday. Games were played
behind Precious Blood School, at
the Rec Centre and at the. South
Huron District High School Field.
Precious Blood only entered one
division, the Junior Boys, and won
it by going undefeated.
Mt. Carmel won second -place
banners in the Intermediate Boys
Division and Junior Girls.
The Primary Mixed Division,
(grades 3-4), was won by Dublin's
St. Patrick's second went to Strat-
ford St. Joseph third was ML Car-
mel and fourth' was Goderich's St.
Marys.
Behind Precious Blood in the Jun-
ior Boy's Division, was Hessen's St.
Marys, Stratford St. Ambrose and
Kingsbridge's St. Joseph. -

Pee Wees picked one point in two
Shamrock League games last week.
They tied llderton 2-2 at the
South Huron Rec Centre last
Wednesday and lost 7-3 in Lamb-
eth Friday night.
Last Wednesday night's game
was scoreless until 11:49 of the
second period when Exeter's Sean
McCann gave Exeter the leadTrom
Gavin Snell and Ian Jean:
Ilderton's Rob Daniels struck
twice later in the second to give Il-
derton a 2-1 lead heading into the
third.
Exeter captain Mau Godbolt con-
nected for an unassisted goal just 15
seconds into the third to lift the
home team to the one point.
Sean McCann had two of Exeter's
three goals in the loss at Lambeth
Friday'night, one goal from Gavin
Snell and the other from Ben Arm-
strong and Ian Jean. Chris McDo-
nald had the other goal from Arm-
strong and Jim Dietrich.

rock Hockey League game of the
week, the Exeter Atom Broncos
played Lucan to a 2-2 draw at the
South Huron Rec Centre Sunday
afternoon. -
Lucan jumped out to a 2-0 ''ad
after one period but Exeter man-
aged to get one back in the second
and another in the third to gain the
tie.
Scoring for Lucan in the first pe-
riod of play were; Josh Appleman,
from Marty McLaughlin, and Brent
Belamy, and Adam Duskocy from
Michael Wragg just 23 seconds
apart.
Billy Kline got the home team on
the board with a goal with just 41
seconds left in the second period,
from Rob Lynn and Chad Gilfillan.
Eric Clay tied the game for Exet-
er early in thethird with an unas-
sisted goal from a screen shot from
the point.
Both goalies, Exeter's Jason Lin-
denfield and Lucan's David Riddell
played superb games for their re-
