AUSABLE RIVER AND
WALKER DRAIN
FLOOD RISK MAPS
The Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority will be
hosting an Information Session for public viewing of
and comment on flood risk mapping recently com-
pleted under the Canada/Ontario Flood Damage
Reduction Program for the Ausable River in Credi-
ton and portions of the Walker Drain and its tributar-
ies in the village of Grand Bend and Township of
Stephen.
All residents and those interested in development
along the following watercourses are invited to at-
tend this session.
- The Ausable River near Crediton from Stephen
Township Sideroad No. 15 to Lot 9, Concession 5.
- The Walker Drain and its tributaries.from its con-
`lucnCe will' the Ausabie Hiver in Urand Bend, up-
stream to the boundary between Lake Road East
Concession and Concession "A", Township of Ste-
phen.
Representatives from the Ausable Bayfield Conser-
vation Authority, Environment Canada, and the On-
tario Ministry of Natural Resources will be present to
discuss the flood risk mapping and general flood-
plain management policies.
The Public Information Session will be held as fol-
lows:

Influenza
TORONTO - Every year in Cana-
da, many people die of influenza or
what is commonly called the flu. It
is particularly dangerous to those in
high risk categories, including any-
one over 65, and those with dia-
betes or other chronic medical con-
ditions. These deaths need not
occur. Immunization with flu vac-
cine in September or October can
provide protection
Influenza is an extremely contag-
ious respiratory disease which
spreads in epidemic force very win-

with flu is the complications that
can arise when the body's resistance
is weakened. Bacterial pneumonia is
the most common complication and
is particularly dangerous in the eld-
erly. Viral pneumonia, kidney fail-
ure, and nervous system disorders
can prove fatal was well.
Influenza can be prevented. Flu
vaccine provides a safe and effective
method of protecting those people
at greatest risk, and can provide up
to 90 percent protection against true
influenza. However, it won't protect
you from the common cold or any
of those other viruses that have
symptoms similar to influenza. So
