Templeman STAFFA - A very good crowd at- tended the coffee hour arranged by the Hibbert United Church Women on Wednesday morning. Upon arrival everyone was wel- comed and served a light lunch by the hostesses, Marjorie Drake, Irene Finlayson and Ada Pethick. The tables were tastefully decorated with autumn flowers arranged in pump- kin containers and each guest re- ceived a autumn favor compliments of Katie Kerslake. ' The program was prepared by Es- ther Smale, Freda Kerslake and Lin- da Butson. Freda welcomed every- one and opened the coffee hour with a poem on Thanksgiving. Mary F Dow played several well known hymns with everyone singing along.. ' Freda introduced Margaret Kemp who gave us all interesting thoughts with her meditation. Linda Butson introduced the guest speaker. Mrs. Thea Wisch, Kippen who displayed many lovely arrangements for all occasions. She concluded her presentation by making a dried flower wreath made mainly from the flowers in her garden. Pastor Anne -Marie Allen closed with the Benediction. Following the coffee hour a short business meeting was held when the United Church Women present were reminded of the South west Perth Regional to be hosted by Kirkton United on October 156. Congratulations to Rob and Bev Templeman on the birth of their daughter Coibey Jane. Mother and daughter returned home from St. Jo- seph Hospital London on Saturday. Thrilled with .Colbey's birth on Oc- tober 11 are big sister Carrah and brothers Cain and Cohen. Pat, Joanne, Matthew and Kelly Donovan Vali D'or Quebec visited on the weekend with the J. Temple- man family members. Joanne and the children remaining for a few days visit. Doris Miller, Lillian Douglas and Roberta Templeman, represented Staffa Women's Institute at the London Area Convention in Embro on Thursday. Bryanston club crowns royalty Toddlers' get more than $2,000 for sick kids EXETER - Toddler's Inn Nursery School participated in a Walkathon on Thursday October 12 and Friday October 13 to raise money for the Toronto, Hamilton and London Children's Hospital. This Walkathon-is organized by ADCO which is an association for private day cares and nursery schools in Ontario. "We are extremely pleased and proud that 67 students (who are 2 1/2, 3 and 4 years old) raised $2,086.!" Principal Glenda Wagner said. The Zurich Laundromat has recently in- stalled a new 30 Ib. front loading commercial washing machine to accommodate Targe and bulky items such as: • comforters • bed spreads • heavy mats Open 7 days a week • BRYANSTON - The Bryanston Friendship Club meeting was held in $ryanston Christian Education room at 11:30 a.m. on October 4, with 50 in attendance. Audrey McRoberts welcomed eve- ryone, and read a poem - "The Roadside Stand". Happy birthday was sung to Isabel Robinson, Ro- sie Aldrich, and Clarence Lewis. Happy anniversary was sung to Lloyd and Jean Elliott, Percy and Mary Rhame, and Alex and Wilma Jeffery. Audrey spoke about our three day trip to Minden Ontario, and of our appreciation to Wilf and Beth Bu- chanan for their extra work in plan- ning our trip and seeing that all went well, while there. Greta Gib- son presented them with a plant - "as our thank you" on behalf of the club. Our committee Carman and Betty Hodgins, John and Eileen Forrest, l thel.Grooch and Edna Wallis, had charge of the progritiri waicn coil-" sisted of a sing song with Muriel Cobleigh at the piano. Two autumn readings by Ethel Crouch and piano solos by Mrs. Margargt McGiver- Son. ` Betty read a poem composed about our club and called - Audrey (leader) and Greta (sec. treas.) to the front and they were crowned Queens for the day.by Carman Hodgins and John Forrest, for their contribution of their services to the club over the years were presented with a corsage andasilkscarf. At lunch time they cut a decorated cake in their honour as well. Both made suitable replies for a very ???? appreciation party. .. Frank Shoebottom, president of the Bryanston - Burr Optimist club, spoke a few words and was pleased to sec how the club had progressed. Games were then played, and at 4:30 p.m. we adjourned and went as a group to Wesley United church (Highbury Ave) to their tur- key supper.
