Panthers have trouble against Huskies

STRATFORD - The girls' bas-
ketball teams of South Huron Dis-
trict High School ,had some diffi-
culty in league games against
Stratford Northwestern, last Tues-
day. All three teams went down to
defeat at the hands of the Huskies.
The Midget Panthers worked ex-
tremely hard to hold their competi-
tion to a 49-34 win.
Broncos get
three points
FOREST - The Exeter Atom
Broncos picked up three points in
their first two games of the regular
season last week.
They played to a 2-2 draw last
Wednesday in Lambeth, and edged
Forest, in Forest, Sunday by a 2-1
margin.

After a scoreless second period,
Exeter defenceman Eric Clay made
a nice rush and scored with Farqu-
har getting the assist, at 6:38 of the
third, to make a 2-0 contest.
Forest managed their Ione goal

one goal but Lindenfield shut the
door the rest of the way for Exeter
to record the win.
Mikala McDougall and Julie
Kaak worked hard under the bas-
ket, grabbing most of the Panther's
defensive rebounds.
McDougall also led the locals in
scoring with eight points. Stacey
Thurman had seven and Julie
McLeod added six.
SH's Junior girls were also over-
come by the Huskies 43-16.
Becky Morgan rallied . for 10
points, while Stacey Rader, Angela
Gould and Kristy Dobson added
two points each.
The senior Panthers took an ex-
tremely disappointing 45-33 loss at
Northwestern.
The girls played very well in the
first half of play holding the
Huskies to an 18-16 lead.
Unfortunately, their opponents
took over in the second half of play
to win the match.
